A Word from Ashlee
Greetings 4-H families! Spring is here (thank goodness). With
spring time comes many important items to keep in mind to get
prepared for fair! The enrollment deadline has come and I hope all
of you communicated well with 4-H families and members about getting this in
on time! This edition of The Leader includes reminders regarding the
mandatory Quality Assurance program for those exhibiting market or lactating
animals, project judging, camp whitewood, fair schedules and more!
On another note, I wanted to thank you to the 4-H volunteers who have
taken time out of their busy schedules to attend events in support of our
members in an effort to better our county program. I greatly appreciate your
dedication, time and patience. Have a wonderful Easter with your families!
Sincerely, Ashlee

Many of you have met this requirement if you attended the Annual 4-H Update, required for all head advisors and an additional advisor for each club. If you did not attend this, you will have to complete this training. Please contact me so I can send you the information to complete it online, as this is the only option left for the year.

Advisors ... Please remind your members & parents about the Mandatory Quality Assurance Training for all junior fair participants exhibiting livestock animals. Market Livestock Exhibits include any animal that produces meat or milk. Each 4-H member planning to exhibit a market / dairy livestock animal at the Trumbull County Junior Fair must attend a program along with at least one parent or guardian (if younger than 16 years of age and if have already taken a livestock/dairy project at least once in the past). Please keep in mind that it is Fair Board Policy and Ohio Revised Code (901-19-36) Law that this training be completed for both new and returning 4-H market livestock exhibitors. What happens if a member fails to complete the
training? Any 4-H member who has not completed one of the Quality Assurance Programs will not be permitted to participate in Junior Fair with his or her projects or to sell at the Trumbull County Fair.
Quality Assurance will be offered ONE TIME ONLY. There will be a quality assurance program on April 8, 2017 at the Trumbull Fairgrounds. This will be hands-on and could include animals, thus the reason for a one-time only session. If you are unable to attend this quality assurance session, you have the option of: Testing out on Monday, April 3, 2017 (available for youth
12 years old & older). The test will take place from 4:00 – 5:30 p.m. at the OSU Extension Office in Cortland. Please call the OSU Extension Office at (330) 638-6783 to pre-register for the test.
