This conference will reappraise key questions concerning shi�s over the last two decades within the fields of art and archaeology of the Silk Road, featuring presentations from leading international scholars. Themes such as hybridity, exoticism, regionalism, and diplomacy in art will be explored, in addition to discussing globalization and look-ing at both land and maritime Silk Road routes in relation to paintings, sculpture, petroglyphs, architecture, and textile arts of Asia, Central Europe, and the Mediterranean during the 2nd century BCE through the 14th century.
Learn about the vibrant art and culture transmitted through the trade route known as the Silk Road, which connected West and East for more than 15 centuries. This conference will widen one’s world view by exploring how ideas, religion, politics and culture were transmitted through art and architecture, bringing this ancient period to life in the new light of recent globalization.
