BIG TEN COACHING WINS
Stadium record (Lee Pistor, Arizona, 1977). He has kicked two of Iowa’s nine longest
eld goals in school history -- both coming against Pi (52 at Pi in 2014 and 57 vs. Pi
in 2015).
• Has 119 career points. He is the 36th player in program history with 100 career points
and ranks 24th in career scoring.
THE KICK Marshall Koehn kicked a 57-yard eld goal as me expired to defeat Pi, 27-24, on
Sept. 19. The game-winning eld goal was the second longest in school history and ed
the Kinnick Stadium record (Arizona’s Lee Pistor in 1977).
Aer Pi ed the game, 24-24, with 0:52 le in the fourth quarter, Iowa DB Desmond
King picked up a squib kick at the 3-yard line and returned it 27 yards to the Iowa 30. QB
C.J. Beathard picked up two rushing rst downs to move the ball into Pi territory, and
aer a pair of sideline routes to WR Tevaun Smith fell incomplete, Beathard scrambled
for eight yards to the Pi 39-yard line. Iowa then used its nal meout to stop the clock
with two seconds le.
On fourth-and-2, Pi called a meout to freeze Koehn. Koehn let a kick sail anyway,
but it landed far short of the goal post. On the ensuing aempt, Dillon Kidd placed a snap
from Tyler Kluver on the Pi 47-yard line, and Koehn split the uprights, giving Iowa its rst
walk-o eld goal since 1986 (Holiday Bowl).
THE DRIVE
Iowa put together a 99-yard scoring drive on its second possession of the season. It
was the Hawkeyes’ rst 99-yard touchdown drive since 2002. Iowa passed six mes and
rushed six mes while converng ve rst downs on the drive. QB C.J. Beathard was 4-of-
6 passing for 63 yards. He also carried once for two yards. RB LeShun Daniels, Jr., carried
four mes for 18 yards, and RB Jordan Canzeri took his rst carry of the season ve yards
into the end zone. Canzeri also had a 21-yard recepon.
FIND THE NFL-ER
Since 1999, Kirk Ferentz’s rst year as UI head coach, the Hawkeyes have had a future
NFL player start on the oensive line in every season.
In each of the last eight years, an eventual NFL rst-round dra pick started on the
oensive line. Brandon Scher, selected by the Washington Redskins h overall in 2015,was Iowa’s le tackle from 2012-14. Riley Rei, selected 23rd overall by the Detroit Lions in
2012, started at le tackle from 2010-11. Bryan Bulaga, selected 23rd overall by the Green
Bay Packers in 2010, started at le guard in 2007 before moving to le tackle in 2008-09.
From 2005-06, Balmore Ravens All-Pro Marshal Yanda shared me at tackle and guard
for the Hawkeyes. Mike Elgin, a seventh round selecon of New England, was Iowa’s starng
center in 2004. Pete McMahon, draed by Oakland in 2005, was Iowa’s right guard in 2003.
Oakland’s rst round pick in 2004, Robert Gallery, was Iowa’s le tackle from 2001-03. Eric
Steinbach (Cincinna) started at guard for Iowa from 2000-02, and Bruce Nelson (Carolina)
was a four-year starter from 1999-02. Both players were second round dra picks in 2003.
OFFENSIVE-TACKLE-BY-COMMITTEE
The Hawkeyes have started three oensive tackles that entered the season with one
combined career start. Starng tackles LT Boone Myers and RT Ike Boeger entered 2015with one combined career start (Boeger started as a second ght end against Wisconsin
in 2014), and aer Myers was injured in Week 4, junior LT Cole Croston stepped into the
starng le tackle posion against Wisconsin and Illinois. They are the rst two starts of
