NFL and Breast Cancer Awareness
By: Jeff Gale
Theory
• It is possible to give the NFL a charitable and good name by supporting breast cancer.
• NFL fans will care to help a good cause
Practice
• Have a whole month dedicated to breast cancer awareness every season. This year it was October.
• Advertise breast Cancer Awareness during NFL games.
Practice
• Field designs• Pink coins used for the coin toss• A Crucial Catch pink glow necklaces for all fans
attending the Bears-Giants game on Oct. 3
Practice• The Empire State Building in New York City was lit
pink by the NFL on October 3rd due to the Chicago Bears @ NY Giants game that Sunday night
Practice
• The Buffalo Bills also lighted Niagara Falls pink on Friday, October 1 in honor of the their breast cancer awareness month.
Practice- On the Field
• Players wear chin straps, sideline caps, helmet decals, eye shield decals, captains' patches, sideline towels and quarterback towels.
• This authentic gear can be purchased at NFL.com, stadiums, and sporting goods stores with proceeds benefiting the American Cancer Society

Practice- Auctions
• Bid on authentic game used gear on nfl.com in auctions
• Also bid on trips to the Super Bowl XLV VIP trip and a 2011 Pro Bowl Spa Retreat in Hawaii
• All Proceeds at NFL auction in October go to American Caner society.
IMPACTS
• Ability to get the word out to a larger audience• Ability to give fans what they want (jerseys, trip to
Super Bowl) and at the same time helping out a good cause
• Ability to make caner survivors and patients feel like a large business like the NFL supports them
• Ability to educate and shed light on breast cancer through programs and nfl.com/pink
My Suggestions
• Integrate social media more. I.E. Tweet special deals that support Breast Cancer.
• Create iPhone/Android app, that gives you news and stats on breast cancer, special deals on NFL breast cancer awareness memorabilia, news on NFL breast cancer programs and ability to schedule a mammogram.
