it’svivid,colorful,beautifulandhasapowertoheal.”(NewRochelle,NY—May24,2017)…ForsomanyWestchesterresidents,nature’sbountyandbeautyaretwoofthecounty’sgreatassets.So,anartexhibitionthatcapturesnature’sessencewillhavespecialmeaningtothosewholiveandworkhere.OpeningonJune11,“TheArtoftheGarden,”ajuriedshow,organizedbyUnitedHebrewofNewRochelle,willfeature50beautifulandevocativepaintings,photographs,sculpturesandmixedmediaby33emergingandestablishedartistsfromacrosstheNewYorkmetropolitanregionandbeyond,depictingnatureinallitsglory.TheexhibitionwasorganizedbyRobinZane,Curator,andJodiMoise,GalleryAdvisorforUnitedHebrew.Zanesaidtheyreceivedover100submissions,ultimatelyselectingamixofpiecesthatoozecolorandbeautyinanarrayoftexturesdesignedtoengageviewers,accordingtoZane.“Gardenshavelongbeenaplaceforustoexperiencebeauty,toreflect,toheal.Weexpandeduponthatideaandincludedsingleblooms,landscapes,birdsandbutterflies.Theideawastoexposeviewerstoasmatteringofimagesfromtheregionandaroundtheworld,”saidZane.Onewillseeariotofcolorfulflowersfrontingabeachtownshop,anendlesspathsnakingthroughthewoods,andasun-dappledrosegardeninaNewEnglandvillageinthreeoftheselectedworks.AccordingtoRitaMabli,PresidentandCEOofUnitedHebrew,“Whenyouseetheseworks,youfeeltransportedtoasunnydayfromyourpastorafar-awaylandyou’veyettosee.Wealwayslookforworksthatconnectviewerstotheartandeachother—residentsinourcare,theirfamilies,andvisitors.“Forsomeofourresidents,forwhomgoingoutsideisdifficult,theartworkbringstheoutsidein,forthemtoenjoy.”UnitedHebrewoffersanarrayofsupportivecareservicesincludingassistedliving,memorycare,rehabilitation,andlong-termskillednursing.TheirLazarusGalleryislocatedat391PelhamRoad,NewRochelle.Anopeningreception,whichwillbefreeandopentothepublic,willbeheldfrom3p.m.–4:30p.m.onJune11.Exhibitionhoursarefrom9to5daily.
