NationalHistoryDay(NHD)makeshistorycomealiveforstudentsingrades4through12byengagingtheminthediscoveryoftheexperiencesofthepast.NHDtransformsteachingthroughproject-basedlearningthatistiedtothenewHistory-SocialScienceFrameworkandCommonCoreStateStandards.Afterselectingatopicthatrelatestoanannualtheme,studentsconductextensiveresearchbyusinglibraries,archives,museums,andoralhistoryinterviews.Throughhistoricalinquiry,theyanalyzeandinterprettheirfindings,drawconclusionsabouttheirtopics’significanceinhistory,andcreatefinalprojectstopresenttheirworkbycreatinga(n)exhibit,documentary,website,historicalpaper,performance,orposter.
