• Ofsted inspection outcomes to March 2014 – with 77% of middle schools judged good or outstanding – out performing other forms of schooling.
• Intake Benchmarking – KS1 data from first schools clearly shows different profile from national average – with many more judged Level 3
• Key Stage 2 – 2013 – KS2 average for middle schools above the county average in half of three tier authorities.
• KS3 Benchmarking – improving trend in English Maths and Science over last four years.

Firstly some factual information:
• There are currently 170 middle schools• All except 11 are middle deemed secondary schools• There are currently 54 middle schools with academies status. (32%)
• Middle schools cater for 73,015 pupils• 18, 164 pupils took their KS2 SATs in middle schools in 2013
