Erasmus Plus Malta 2015
In this presenta6on, I’m going to show my work experience in
Malta in January 2015
This project started when my teacher told me about a work experience in Malta to improve my English. I was immediately convinced that an
experience like this could be really helpful for my English level and for my
professional skills.
This experience started on 10th January and ended on 10th February. On the first days we have visited the most important aKrac6ons of Malta like the capital of the country (ValleKa), Sliema and Saint Julian where I was going to work. At the beginning I didn’t like the place because it’s so different from our region but day aRer day I started to like it.
Family I was hosted with my classmate Gian Marco in a very friendly family who lived near the airport in a big home with 3 floors. The only problem was that there wasn’t the hea6ng system and especially in our bedroom it was very cold. There were three people in the family: Giuseppe (Dad), Josephine (Mother) and Mariella (daughter).
Workplace The hotel where I was working is situated in St Julian in the area of Malta which is very popular with tourists, in front of an amazing bay with crystal-‐clear water.
ST Julian’s Bay Hotel I worked in this hotel almost a month as a waiter, recep6onist and booking manager. I worked with another two guys, one from France and one from Finland who were also doing an internship. About 25 employees were working in the hotel. The hotel has seven floors with about 60 rooms, a big restaurant where breakfast is served, a welcoming recep6on and a big relaxing hall.
Free time
During my free 6me, especially at the week-‐end I have visited all the island towns and villages.
Gozo The second biggest island of Malta. In this island you can relax, enjoy the nature and visit the only city, Victoria.
Transport
The best way to move around the island is the bus because it is the only public transport in Malta. The service covers all the island’s villages and towns but the buses are very slow because the streets are very narrow and there aren’t any motorways.
