Step 1: Open your internet browser and log on to your current moodle (Moodle 1). Keep this window
open.
Step 2: Open another browser window. At this point, you should have two windows open on your
screen.
Step 3: In the second browser window, type the url for Moodle 2 (http://moodle2.wscschools.org/).
Step 4: You should now have two windows open – one window with Moodle 1 and one window with
Moodle 2.
Step 5: You will log into Moodle 2 using your standard user name and password. At this point, you will
be logged into both Moodle 1 and Moodle 2.
Step 6: Please note the differences in formatting and style between Moodle 1 and Moodle 2. These
visual differences will help you keep track of where you are moving items.
Step 7: Working on Moodle 1, go to the post that you want to move from Moodle 1 to Moodle 2. In
this case, I will move a post from our Great Reads section on Moodle 1 to the Great Reads section on
Moodle 2.
Step 8: In order to move the content, you need to open the forum post.
Step 9: Highlight the content you want to move and right click on COPY.
Step 10: After you click on COPY, move your attention to Moodle 2. You will now be working in
Moodle 2.
Step 11: Working in Moodle 2, find the same forum from which you took content in Moodle 1.
Remember that the framework of the Moodles are the same…only the content needs to be manually
moved.
Step 12: Click on the forum. Then click on “Add a new discussion topic.”
Step 13: Add your subject. In the message box, right click on PASTE.
Step 14: Now your content will be moved from Moodle 1 to Moodle 2.
Step 15: Remember to click on POST TO FORUM.
Step 16: You will need to follow this process for every forum post that you want to move from Moodle
1 to Moodle 2 during this transition.
