Matching Moods GameMatching Moods is a game that is meant to help children identify and discuss emotions.

InstructionsSET-UPPrint the downloadable DBSA Mood CrewTM cards from the DBSA website. Cut out cards.

GAME PLAY 1. Shufflethecardssothattheyareinrandomorder.2. LaycardsoutwithMoodCrewTMcharacterfacingdown.3. Oneatatime,flipoverthecardsuntilsomeonefindsamatch.4. Whensomeonedoesfindamatch,thefacilitator(parent,caregiver,

clinician, educator) should ask the child a question about that emotion. Examples of questions you can ask during game play:

Canyoutellmewhatthatemotionmeans? Canyouthinkofatimethatyoufeltthatemotion? Whenyoufeelthisemotion,whatexpressiondoesyourfacemake? Canyoutellmeastoryaboutacharacterthatfeelsthatemotion? Canyourememberatimewhenyouobservedsomeoneelsefeeling

thatemotion?Whydoyouthinktheyfeltthatway?

5. Oncesomeonegetsamatchandanswersoneofthequestionsabove(or arelatedquestionyoucreate),theygettokeepthematchandthenext playerpicks.

6. Thegameplayendswhenallthecardshavebeencollected.Thewinneris theplayerwiththehighestnumberofmatches.
