Dear Board Members, 6-5-13
Mrs. Kacie Hicks is a seventh grade math teacher at Meigs Middle School. Mrs.
Hicks is a wonderful teacher with evaluations of fours and fives for the school
year 2011-12, during that year she was involved with one of the highest one year
growth and achievement levels ever attained in 7th grade math with a 78.0
percent P/A. She has shown the ability to make gains in student growth this year
as well with a 65.4 P/A, up from 59.6 the previous year. Although below the AMO
of 79.4 in 7th grade math this year, Mrs. Hicks ranked a four in 3-8 grade math
achievement for the 2012-13 school year. Her composite score should be a four
or five this year as well. Mrs. Hicks is on time to work and is always present
unless sickness prevents her from attending.
I am recommending Mrs. Hicks for tenure because she has shown dedication
and care for the students of Meigs Middle School. Mrs. Hicks is a valuable
member of our 7th grade team, always collaborating with colleagues in order to
enhance her teaching ability and student success. She is very knowledgeable of
the subject being taught and shows genuine care and concern for others each
day. Beyond test scores, Mrs. Hicks is a good person and role model for the
students of Meigs Middle School. I would encourage you to approve tenure for
Mrs. Kacie Hicks.
Sincerely,
Ronald R. Woods
'Enter to Learn - Learn to Achieve"
Dear Mr. Woods,
I am writing this letter in concern of Ms. Hicks achieving a tenure at
Meigs Middle School. As one of her students I have first hand seen Ms. Hicks
teaching ability. Through countless times I have sat in her classroom and
each time I learned something new. Plus not only did I learn something new
I learned it in a fun and exciting way. There is no doubt in my mind that
Ms. Hicks should continue teaching in our school system. As young as she is
as a teacher it appears she has been teaching for many years. As a teacher
she excels in her subject. So, please grants Ms. Hicks the tenure that will
allow her to continue changing and inspiring students at Meigs Middle
School.
Kind regards,

Mr.Woods,
I am writing this letter to provide evaluation of Ms.Kaci Hicks
performance in teaching for a tenure with the Meigs County School System.
Ms.Kaci Hicks has clearly excelled in teaching. There is ample
evidence that she is an excellent teacher. She has made a significant
impression on both my children not only as a teacher but as a role model,
for she is always fair and consistent. I have seen a great gain in my childrens
mathematical ability after having her as their teacher.
Considering Ms.Kaci Hicks performance in teaching I strongly support
her tenure at Meigs County School System. Ms.Kaci Hicks has never given
me any reason to doubt her ability to teach or her qualifications. My
judgement is based on Ms.Kaci Hicks excellence as a teacher.
Kind regards,
To Whom It May Concern:
It is a pleasure to be able to write and tell you about a great teacher, person andfriend. We have known Kacie Hicks for over two years now and have had the privilege ofher teaching our 14yr old daughter in the 7th grade. Our daughter does well in schoolhowever math is sometimes a struggle for her. Mrs. Hicks always took the time to explainand teach Abby on the things she didn't understand. We have to say she is one of the bestteachers we have had the opportunity to encounter. She is very knowledgeable in hersubject and can get down on a 7th grade level to teach it, not every teacher can do that.Every Open House we were always greeted with a smile and have always felt welcome inher class. We believe it is an honor to have Mrs. Hicks teaching in the Meigs CountySchool System and we are looking forward to her teaching our 7th grade son this year.
Sincerely,
Xt£40'

I have had the pleasure of knowing Mrs. Kaci Hicks at Meigs Middle School for two years. Both of mychildren have been instructed by Mrs. Hicks in the subject of math, one child in the 2011-2012 schoolyear and the other child in the 2012-2013 school year. Mrs. Hicks has maintained their mathematicalabilities and helped them improve their cognitive development in the area of how math relates to oureveryday lives. She really shows the students how we use math every day. She stresses the importanceof checking your work and justifying your answer. The amount of tutoring that I normally do at homehas decreased because she is able to transfer what she knows into a lesson that my two students canunderstand. As a parent, I have been pleased at the amount of nightly homework she assigns. Dailypractice in the classroom and at home is crucial to mastering math objectives. She gives students theopportunity to correct any problem missed and instructs them to find where they went wrong. Thistactic has enabled my two children not to make the same mistake over and over. They have improvedat finding their own errors.
Mrs. Hicks is an asset to Meigs Middle School. My two children are comfortable with asking herquestions in the classroom. Even if they are the only one that may not understand something during alesson, she encourages students to "ask" if you do not understand. She stresses to her students, "Pleasedo not be afraid to speak up in class, let her know if you got lost on a problem". Mrs. Hicks is wellprepared to explain a math lesson in several different ways to accommodate a variety of students. Mytwo children do not process information the same way, yet they both performed well under herleadership. Her positive attitude and passion for teaching is vital to all students and their desire toappreciate math.
Sincerely,Ms. Jeannette Scoggins
