Duration – 1 year
Focus on complexity and dynamics
MA OS focuses on the whole range of present-day
organizations
MA OS trains organizational analysts
Focus on broad and transferable skills to facilitate
employment in a wide variety of organizations in the
Netherlands and internationally
Train generalists, not specialists

Master thesis Organization Studies (24 ECTS):
Semester 2
Competence test to show that you:
• can perform scientific research independently
• have deep knowledge of the topic
• are able to interpret and communicate research
results
Approach:
• Thesis circles of up to 8 students supervised by staff
members
• Research topic within the framework of the research
program of the department
• Thesis has to be written in English

• Admission: Same as regular Master OS
• Students have to apply and be accepted by the
Department of Organization Studies and the partner
organization in the spring of 2016
• Information session and speed date on May 17, 2016
• Deadline for applications for 2016/17 is second half of
May

Variant 2: Research Master in Social Science

• 2-year research oriented program in Social Sciences
with focus on individual in social contexts
• Interdisciplinary approach that integrates social
psychology, sociology, organization studies and
methodology
• Trains all-round researchers
• Admission takes place after selection. There is a limited
number of openings (max 30)
• Students must apply for enrolment in the program

Preparing for the Master’s OS
• Mastering English as a foreign language (oral and writing
skills)
• Complete course work in your Bachelor program or the
premaster year
• Regularly read articles referring to organizational problems
in newspapers, magazines and on the Internet
• Be prepared to enter an exciting and challenging program
• You may consider doing an internship with an organization
before you enter the program
Required (academic) background
• Completed Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in the social
sciences or economics (harde knip)
• Basic knowledge of social science theories
• Basic knowledge of organization and management (theories)
• Sound knowledge in research methods and statistics
• Strong interest in organizations and organizing
• Eagerness to develop skills of critical analysis and
understanding
• Willingness to work hard
