Job Description•Normally specialize in the process of birth
•Deliver babies; provide medical care and treatment during and after pregnancy
•Deals with the reproductive systems of women
•Monitors women’s overall health; administering pap smears and perform hysterectomies
•With further training you can specialize; areas such as high risk pregnancy and infertility
Working Conditions•Work in hospitals, clinics, and private practices
•Often work at least 60 hours a week; always on call
•Must be able work on a short notice
•Requires maturity and compassion; physically and mentally demanding
Education Required•3-4 years at college with a bachelors degree and required science courses
•2-4 years of medical school (sometimes it can take 2 or more years before you are excepted into a medical school)
•4 years of residency
