Librariesareknownas“thirdspaces”.Athirdspaceisaplacewithinthecommunitywherepeo-plecangotorelaxandsocialize.Thetwomainspacesthatapersongoestowouldbehomeandwork/school. But libraries are outside of thatrealm;theycreatetheirownatmospherewherepeopleareabletocomeandrelax. Hereatthelibrarywehavepeoplecomeinallthetimetoworkonapuzzle,readthenewspa-perorgetonthecomputer.Theymaynotattendanyprogramsthatdayorcheckanybooksout,buttheyareheretorelax.Ourcurrentspaceallowsthistosomedegree,butIcan’twaituntilweareinthenewlibraryandweareabletoinvitemorepeopleintoourthirdspace.Ibelievethelittlecaféthatwewillhavemaybringinmorepeople.I’veheardsomanytimesabouthowcoolitwouldbeifourcommunityhadaplacelikeStarbucks,where

people could get a nice treat and a coffee. Well, wewillhavesomethingsimilartothatinthenewlibrary.NotaStarbucks,ofcourse,butyouwillbeabletogetatastytreat!

Teen Game Night Last week we had our most attended TeenGameNightsinceIhavebeenworkingattheli-brary.Therewere15peopleinattendance.Kate-lynhadputtogetheraBoxofLiesgame,asseenonTheTonightShowStarringJimmyFallon.Thekidshadalotoffuntryingtotricktheirpartnersaboutwhatwasintheirbox.Iwasratherproudofmyownabilitiestotrickthekids.Oneofthemsaidshewasn’tsureifshecouldtrustmeanymore.Severalofthemrequestedthatwedoitagainsometimesoon.Nexttimewewillhavetogetmoreboxes.
