FEES
Dear Parents/Caregivers,
This will probably be my first and last time writing in the “Director’s spot”, so here
goes……I hope you have all received a letter from Lee ,who will be taking leave for
the rest of the term, we all wish Lee and her family positive energy and plenty of
good wishes and love. We would like to welcome 2 students to our centre. Cindy
Russell (parent of Charlie 2013) who is at TAFE studying for the Certificate 3
Children’s Services and Laura Wardrop who is at Uni SA studying her 3rd year in
Early Childhood Education. They are both doing orientation visits at present on
Tuesdays and Wednesdays and will be doing their placements next term. We are keen
to support students in the field of the early years and invite you to introduce
yourselves as they begin to build relationships at Lobethal Kindy.
We have a very exciting excursion coming upon Tuesday 8th April as the whole
centre heads down to Normanville for a fantastic day of discovery, learning and fun.
We welcome as many parents as possible for this outing. The staff will be undertak-
ing a comprehensive ‘Risk assessment “for the excursion and this will be displayed
for families to look over and get a ‘feel’ for the day. For parents who are coming to
assist on the excursion, we will be creating a hand out for you so that we can all work
together, with the safety of the children in mind. This will be given to you shortly.
Just a friendly reminder for children to be at kindy by 8.30 a.m. so that we leave the
centre at8.45 a.m. sharp ,so please be prompt to kindy on that day so we can keep to a
pretty tight schedule. The bus will be returning to kindy by 2.30 p.m. and we ask that
the children are collected at this time as they will be extremely tired!
It’s great to see that some families have discovered our new centre book called
“Experiencing Belonging”, which we have written to highlight the first 6 weeks of
kindergarten and how well all the children have been developing their sense of
belonging at the centre and beginning to establish relationships with each other and
with the staff. The children have enjoyed seeing themselves in a ‘real’ book and love
seeing their images. The book is near the Belonging Tree, please feel free to have a
look.
A big thank you for returning your beautiful ‘Rock solid Value’ rocks back to the
centre. We have displayed them all on a table near the entrance to the kindy, complete
with mirrors so we can ‘reflect’ on these over the year. It has been affirming that the
beautiful words that have been written clearly link with our beliefs and values about
early childhood, which we will be compiling as a staff team on the last Thursday of
term. We will share this with you early in term 2. Early next term we will also be
holding a parent session discussing “How children learn, and developing life skills
through play”. We will give a date shortly. We welcome as many parents as possible
to these evenings.
Term one has been an amazing term for us at the centre and we are excited to see
what the rest of the year will bring. A big thank you to all families for their support
and enthusiasm, Lobethal Kindy is definitely a great place to be!
Katie on behalf of the terrific staff team-Lee, Janice ,Nic, and Nell
Session Times Please remember that kindy sessions commence FROM 9.00am and
finish at 3.00pm. (staff not available until 9.00am to supervise

Mothers Day Raffle
We are holding a Mother’s Day raffle and to help out we need donations to be used for prizes. We are looking for goods that all our hard working, deserving mothers would love. For example vouchers, appliances, books/magazines, gardening products, beauty products, wine, chocolate, candles and pamper products. Use your imagination and feel free to rummage through your drawers and cupboards to re gift those unwanted presents. All donations can be left in the box near the front door and we will need them by Wednesday the 30th April. Raffle tickets have been placed in your communication pockets for you to sell to family and friends. Please return all books by Week 2 next term, Monday the 5th of May ready for the draw on Wednesday the 7th of May. Thank you for your ongoing support of our fundraising. Remember every cent raised will help your child during their kindy year.

If I had my child to raise over again.
If I had my child to raise over again, I’d finger paint more,
and point the finger less. I’d do less correcting, and more connecting.
I’d take my eyes off my watch, and watch with my eyes.
I would care to know less, and know to care more.
I’d take more hikes, and fly more kites.
I’d stop playing serious, and seriously play.
I’d run through more field, and gaze at more stars.
I’d do more hugging, and less tugging.
I would be firm less often, and affirm much more.
I’d build self-esteem first, and the house later.
I’d teach less about the love of power, and more about the power of love
It matters not if my child is big or small, From this day forth,
I’ll cherish it all. Diane Loomans “Full Esteem Ahead” 1994.
