Dow Corning:
A Global Leader in Silicon-Based Technology
and Innovation
Established in 1943 to explore and develop the potential of the silicon atom for commercial applications, Dow Corning Corporation is a global leader in silicon-based technology and innovation. And, with many decades of silicone rubber innovation experience, we have a broad line of liquid silicone rubbers (LSRs) offer proven, effective solutions to help you meet a diverse range of application needs. This selection guide provides important details about these LSRs and is designed to help you make the right choice for your application requirements.
LSR Types, Benefits and Key Features
Dow Corning’s portfolio of liquid silicone rubber includes specific LSR formulations, marketed under the Dow Corning®, Silastic® and XIAMETER® brands. Injection-molding grades, coating grades and specialty grades are available to help improve manufacturing efficiency with:
• Automated processing• Increased output• Reduced scrap• Energy savings
These two-part (1:1 mix ratio, unless otherwise noted), easily mixed and quickly heat-cured LSR materials can help extend design possibilities for small parts, intricate designs, high precision and over-molding. Key features of cured LSRs include good mechanical properties and excellent resistance to weathering, extreme temperatures and aging. Fluoro liquid silicone rubber (F-LSR) combines excellent fuel and oil resistance with LSR processing economy.
