05 Diskussion / Fragen
• Vermeidung von 1 zu 1 Planungen
Neue Plattform + Neues OS erfordert neue Lösungen
Planungsgrundlage Anforderungen der Applikationen, SLA
• Best Practices und Standards
Wildwuchs vermeiden
• Evaluierung und Proof of Concept
Lösungen nicht nur theoretisch prüfen
Best Practice

AIX 2 LINUX Webcast
SUSE received Common Criteria Certificates at Evaluation Assurance Level EAL4,
augmented by ALC_FLR.3 (EAL4+) for SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 SP2
including KVM virtualization and for SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for System z 11
SP2. To achieve the certifications, SUSE’s products and processes for developing
and maintaining its products passed a rigorous security evaluation performed by
atsec information security. The certificates were issued by Bundesamt für Sicherheit
in der Informationstechnik(BSI), the German Federal Office for IT Security, at the
CeBIT expo in Hannover.

Virtualisierung
14 AIX 2 LINUX Webcast
Virtualisierung KVM
15 AIX 2 LINUX Webcast
• Host RAM and CPU limits are the same with orwithout KVM modules loaded• Guest RAM size: 512 GB• Virtual CPUs per guest: 64• NICs per guest: 8• Block devices per guest: 4 emulated, 20 para-virtual(virtio-blk)• Maximum number of guests: total vCPUs in all guests≤ 8 times total CPU cores in host
Virtualisierung KVM
16 AIX 2 LINUX Webcast
• Supports latest hardware virtualization technologies• Guest life-cycle controls‒ Start,stop,reboot, pause/resume, suspend/restore‒ Live migration‒ Snapshots, delta storage images
• Co-exists with other virtualization technologies• PCI and USB host device pass through (incl. SR-IOV)• VirtFS: filesystem “pass through”• CPU, memory and disk over-commit• Direct kernel boot option• Emulated (TCG) CPU execution mode available
HA High Availability und Cluster

18 AIX 2 LINUX Webcast
19 AIX 2 LINUX Webcast
SUSER Linux Enterprise High Availability Extension
• High availability for mission-critical services
• Active/active services‒ OCFS2, Databases, Samba File Servers
• Active/passive service fail-over‒ Traditional databases, SAP setups, regular services
• Private Cloud‒ HA, automation and orchestration for managed VMs
• High availability across guests‒ Fine granular monitoring and HA on top of virtualization
• Remote clustering‒ Local, Metro, and Geographical area clusters
