What is a support group?
A group of people with common concerns or experiences who provide each other
with encouragement, comfort, and advice.
What do support groups offer?
Counseling, Educational Workshops, Guidance, Support, Information
How wil l this help work ing elder caregivers?
Fellow working elder caregivers can share coping strategies and exchange ideas with
regard to caregiving and remaining present and productive at work. Support groups
can serve as an outlet for elder caregivers who are going through an extremely
difficult time.

• Social Adult Day Program
* Monday-Friday 10:00 am – 2:00 pm
* Early, Moderate and Late stage (separated)
* Activities: Word games, trivia, arts & crafts and exercise, live music, yoga, dance and movement therapy
• Process
* Schedule an intake with a social worker, complete required paperwork and medical form signed by
doctor
• In-Home Respite Program
* 2 hours every other week
• Brain Fitness Workshops
* 45 minute sessions (at our facility and other outside locations)
* Word challenges, “Everyday Life Trivia” and category specific games

• Caregiver Support Groups (sessions facilitated by licensed social workers)
* Adult Children Group – Every other Monday 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm (at our facility)
* Spouses Group – Every other Thursday 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm (at our facility)
* Phone Counseling – Provides resources and referrals
• Whimsical Wednesdays – Free lunch with music and dancing for a diagnosed individual and
their caregiver
• Music and Memory Program
* Utilizes iPods to play personalized music playlists for our participants to connect with
memories
* Recently, a piano was donated to LIAF and will be connected to our new presentation room
for participants not only to hear but also utilize.
• Weekend Drop Off Program – Coming Fall 2017 – Saturday 10:00 am – 2:00 pm (at our facility)

Geriatric Care Managers are professionals who coordinate the care of the elderly to meet their long term care needs and improve their quality of life. They are knowledgeable in the areas of health, family dynamics,
psychology, advocacy and more. They can establish a plan of care and bring in additional professionals to help accomplish goals.
*Geriat r ic Care Managers can help your work force by tak ing some of the burden off of the elder caregiver, especial ly when
their loved one is out of s tate. They can act as the l iaison between the elder caregiver and the other profess ionals

Senior Centers are a home away from home for many older individuals. Most centers offer exercise, clubs, games, special events, food, friends,
discussion groups and much more.
Senior Centers are a great place for aging loved ones to spend their day. This can take a good deal of pressure off of work ing
elder caregivers . During bus iness hours , caregivers can be sure that their loved one is act ive, s t imulated, in the company of
others , etc .
