KingsfinishedoutthispastFallsemesterstrongwithsomeofthebestgrades,mostcampusorganizationalinvolvement,andhighestcommunityservicehoursthatwehaveseeninawhile.OurfocusonsupportingindividualsinthechapterandhelpingeachbrothersucceedintheirowncollegiateendeavorshasseenusthroughasuccessfulsemesterandassistedinourrusheffortsfortheSpring. ComingoffofabeneficialFallsemester,wewerelookingforwardtothisSpringsemesteranditwaswellworthit.Ourrushparty,andfinaldinner,atthestartofthesemesterwerebothgreatsuccessesandledtoastrongclassthatresultedintheadditionoffour,stand-upindividualstothechapter.Theirnewideasandfreshper-spectiveswereverymuchwelcomedtothechapter,andwelookforwardtothefutureKingstheywillhavehelpedlead. Wehavehadtheblessingofstabilitythispastyearinregardstothehouseandtreasury.Thehousehasremainedstandingthankstotheworkoftheactivesandthevery,veryoccasionalhelpoftheschool(evenifwestilldon’thaveacabinetdoorthatservicetook).Wehaveseveralprojectswewillbeworkingonthissummer,seehousemangerreportforinfo,soifyouhavetime,stopbyandseewhatwe’reworkingon! We’reclosetofinalsnowandI’mlookingforwardtowrappingupanothergreatsemester.ComingupsoonwehaveanarehavinganAlumniCookoutandwewouldlovetoseealumniandhearsomeoftheirstories.IfyouplanondonatingtoOtterbeinviathecallcenterorotherwise,rememberthatyoucanhelpOtterbeinandKingsoutbydonatingtoourscholarshipaward.JusttellthemyouwouldlikeyourdonationtogototheLamdaGammaEpsilonScholarship.

Guidance,Paper-work,andaNewFaceofLeadership Letmestartoffbysaying,genuinely,howinterestedandexcitedIamtodothisjobtotheverybestofmyability.I’vehadmyeyessetonthisposition,andbeingabletoperformitwell,forsometimenow.Incooperation,asIamverynewtotheworkingsofVicePresident,withourformerlong-termVicePresident,andnowalumni,SeanFeverston,aswellasthemostrecentVP,TristonAnders.Butit’sonethingtosayyou’regoingtodowell,it’sanothertoact.Withthat,Ihopethatthispublication,asmyfirstmajorprojectasVicePresidentHopestoserveasprooftomydedication,now,andfortheyeartocome. OurVicePresidentPositon,whileessentialtofraternaloperations,hasslowlysteeredintoapaper-workposition,onerequiringimmensehoursoutsideoftypicalfraternityfunctions;specificallytimespentonone’sown,writing,coordinating,eventualexection,and,whileIseethoseastremendouslyimportant-Ihopetoreturnthepositiontopartofit’sformalapplication.Ihope,undertheguidlinesofcompat-abilitywiththecurrentpresident(JacobStayner),toseekasastrongvoiceofleadershipwithinKings.Andnotjustwithin,Iseektoupholdouridealsbeyondthefraternity,andtoextend,asmanyhavedonebeforeme,ourimageandidealstoAlumni.Specifically,andwithoutrhetoric,theupcomingalumnicookouteventwearehosting(referencethehisterically,done-to-the-best-of-my-abilityposteronpage2),shouldaidinfurtheringourrelationswiththenewandoldbloodsofthisFraternity-soplease,ifyoucan,attend.We’dlovetoseeyouthen. Thereisnotstrengthgreaterthanwhat,weasKingsman,canaccomplishtogether.

ChapterGrowthWithFirstKnightClassSince2015 ThisSpringsemester,theChaptertookitsfirstKnightClasssincetheFallof2015.Withthisclass,camesevenhopefulindividualseagertobecomefreshnewKingsman.WiththeUniversitykeepinganeverwatchfuleye,weledaprogramthatwouldkeeptheFraternitysafewhilesimultaneouslystickingtotheide-alsoftheChapterandthespiritoftheRenaissanceProgram.AstheChancellor,itwasextremelyimportantthatthesevaluesbeinstilleduponthenewActives,andsotheProgramthatwasbornoftheless-than-per-fectconditionswasshapeduntilitwasbelievedthatitliveduptoexpectations. Duringtheprogram,threeoftheseKnightscametodropfromtheprogram,withtwoofthempos-turedtoreturnintheFallof2017.Theremainingfour,Alex“Ace”Godwin,Beau“Blue”Lajoie,Justin“GOAT”McCurdy,andTrey“Simba”Milush,allsucceededtheprogramandarewellontheirwaytobecominghealthyandprosperousKingsmenwithintheChapter.HavingalreadytakenpositionsbothExecutiveandNon-Execu-tive,theyhaveassimilatedintotheChapter,anditisclearthatabrightfutureisahead. AsChancellor,IamproudtopresentyouallthenewestActivesofourLambdaGammaEpsilonKingsFraternity,andIhopeyouwillallhavesometimetostopbyandintroduceyourselvestothem!

King’sHeadquarters,asitStillStands It’sbeenagreatyearhereattheKingshouseandsinceyourlastupdateonthehouseacouplethingshavechanged!Wehavesincehadtheupstairsbathroomtiled,andOtterbeinserviceiscontinuingtohelpusimprovethehouse.Wehavealsohadanothermajorimprovementwiththeinstallationofbrandnewcarpetonthefirstfloor!Itiskeepingupwellwithallthetrafficthatcomesthroughthehouse.Wecurrentlyhavesixresidentslivinginthehouse,andnextyearweexpecttohavethesameamounthere,includingeveryone’sfavoritethreeleggedemotionalsupportdogRio! Wehaveacoupleprojectsplannedforthissummertocontinuethegeneralupkeepandimprovement.Someprojectsspecificallythatwehavelookedatdoingoverthesummeraregravelingandfixinguptheparkinglotnexttothehouse.Wearelookingatpossiblyexpandingitoutaswellaspaintinglinestomoreclearlydefineactualparkingspaces.Wearealsolook-ingtogivetheoutsideofthehouseafacelift!Paintinganewcrestoutfrontandimprovingthebricksandsidewalkareallontheagendathissummeralongwithsomeothersmallerprojectshereandthere.Iftheseprojectsinterestyou,andyouwanttocontribute,pleaseseethefinalentryofthispublicationoninstructionsonhowyoucanassistinfraternaloperations!

SororityShenanigans-StartingAnew Thissemesterwehavebeenfocusedonstrengtheningourbondwithoursisters,ThetaNu.We’vespentampletimewithoursistersduringevents,projects,andalsojusthangingout.Beingthewonderfulsistersthattheyare,ThetaNueveninvitedusoverforahomemadebreakfast.Thiswasagreatwayforsomeofournewermemberstogettoknowoursistersbetter.Thiswasalotoffun,andtheywereinvitedtocomeovertoourhousesowecouldreturnthefavor.Thesekindsoffun,spurofthemomentactivitiesarewhatweplantohavemoreofwithoursistersinthefuture.Allittookwassomepaint,sometime,andeachother’scompany.Therearemanymorethingsthatwehavedonewithoursistersthissemester,suchasplanningagrill-outandhelpingthemsellGirlScoutcookies.Welookforwardtohelpingthemcelebratetheircentennial,whichwilltechnicallybeduringthefall. Ouractiveshavebeenmakinganefforttobemoreinvolvedoncampus.ThishasimprovedouroverallpresenceandhashelpedmoreKingsmenbecomerecognizedfortheleadersthattheyare.Thissemester,KingshasactivesthatareapartofOtterbein’sResidenceLife,ThePromiseHouse,OtterbeinTrack&Field,Orientation,TheOt-terbeinThriftShop,OtterbeinStudentGovernment,andmanymore.Wearecurrentlyachapterthatthrivesonstu-dentinvolvement.It’shardtogoanywhereoncampusandnotseeaKingsmanthatyouknowbecauseofthediverseinterestsofourmembersandtheirpassionforgettinginvolvedwithwhattheylove.Wearelookingforwardtohavingaboomingfall2017semester. Wehopetobemoreinnovativeduringrecruitmentsothatasmanynewstudentsaspossiblecanfindthehomethatisrightforthem.Wealsoarelookingintobecomingmoreinvolvedwithnotonlyoursisters,butwiththerestofGreeklifeaswell.Thebrotherhoodisstrongrightnow,andoursocialstateisoptimistictowardsthefuture.

Theactiveclassimmediatelyfollow-ingthissemester’sactivation.

New Blood, New Bonds, New Brothers OverthepastfewmonthsweunderwentTheRenaissancePro-gramandintroducedfournewmembersintoourorganization.Overtheprogram,thebrotherhoodcouldnothavebeenstronger.Trustandfor-givenessarethekeyelementsthatforceaknightclassthroughthepro-gram.Weunderstandthateachmemberhasdifferingopinionstothatofyour,butwemustseepastthatandworktogetherinhopesofforminganewresolutionthatcanonlymakeourbrotherhoodstronger. Withthat,wehaveintegratedthenewguysintoourbrotherhood,makingthemfeelathomeandapartofourfamily.Soonwewillbehav-ingourbi-annualsummerretreatinHockingHillsandtheguyscouldnotbemoreexcitedtospendaweekendwithnoonebuteachother. WehadelectionsandvotedinmanyofthenewmemberstoExec-utiveboardpositions,includinganewChaplain.IwouldliketotakesometimetointroducethenewestChaplainofLambdaGammaEpsilon,Beau“Blue”LaJoie-asthenextreportyousee,inthenexteditionof“TheChronicle”,willbehis.
