Tbilisi
Tamara was given a classical education, finished the special music school, then studied at the conservatory in Tbilisi as a pianist and a composer, and was trained at the special college as a singer.
In the early '70s she become a participent of the children's variety group "Mziuri" and performed on tour all over the former Soviet Union.
When Tamara was 19, she became the first-prize-winner of the international competition "Krasnaya Gvozdika" in Sochi, then took part in the pop-music competition in Drezden (1982) and became the first-prize-winner of the international competition "Gold Orpheus" in Sophia (1988). She was a special guest at festovals in Sopot (1989)
and San-Remo (1990).
In 1991 in Paris Tamara Gverdtsiteli made the acquaintance with Michel Legrand. Their first
concert together took place the same year. In 1994 the singer had a solo concert in "Olympia". A year
later she sang in "Carnegy Hall" and "Assembly Hall". At the end of 1995 Tamara decided to to come
back the Russian stage.
She sings in eight languages - Russian, Georgian, French, English, Spanish, Italian, Hebrew, Ukrainian.
Her mastery has a great culture, expression and theatricality. French masterly school exerted
undoubtful influence upon her.
