STATE TIMES NEWS SRINAGAR: The Govern-ment has extended the termof the existing State PressAccreditation Committee(SPAC) by one year in view ofthe fact that no meeting ofthe Committee could be con-vened last year due to revi-sion of the PressAccreditation Rules. TheGovernment today also noti-fied the new State NewsMedia Accreditation Policy-2017 to replace the StatePress Accreditation Policy of1997 which was presently invogue.

Pertinently, in view of thefast-changing media scenarioin the State, the Departmentof Information and PublicRelations (DIPR) had formu-lated a new MediaAccreditation Policy toreplace the existing PressAccreditation Policy of 1997

which had become redundantdue to vast expansion ofmedia in Jammu andKashmir over a period oftime. The State PressAccreditation Committee(SPAC) in its meeting con-vened in Jammu on 17December 2015 had also rec-ommended a holistic reviewof the Press AccreditationRules-1997 to attune thesame with the existing mediascenario in the State.

The DIPR had also soughtrechristening the State PressAccreditation Rules as StateNews Media AccreditationRules and State PressAccreditation Committee(SPAC) as State News MediaAccreditation Committee(SNMAC) to broaden itsscope.

During his meeting with themembers of the KashmirEditors Guild (KEG) here onSaturday, the Minister forInformation, Food, CivilSupplies & Consumer Affairs,Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali hadannounced that the newState News MediaAccreditation Rules will benotified shortly.

Protesting contractuallecturers are demandingtheir regularisation as perthe Civil Services SpecialProvision Act 2010, a poli-cy framed for the regulari-sation of all the ad-hoc/contractual/consolidatedemployees after renderingseven years of services.

They strongly condemnedthe State Government andEducation Minister forunnecessarily delaying

The meeting was attendedby Deputy CommissionerKumar Rajeev Ranjan ,Project Director NHAI, M TAttarde, AssistantCommissioner (Revenue),concerned SDMs andAssistant CommissionerCentral.

During the meeting, theDiv Com reviewed theprogress of land acquisitioncases involving 50 villageswhich are at different stagesof the acquisition.

It was given out in themeeting that project involves322 hectare of land and for-malities under section 6 and7 of the act have been com-pleted for 67 per cent of theland at present.

Dr Bhandari asked forspeeding up the process withcoordination among thestakeholders and compre-hensive interaction betweenSDMs, NHAI and Div Comoffice so as to remove unnec-essary hurdles.

He asked the concernedSDMs to personally monitorthe process and adopt confi-dence building approach withthe public so as to expeditedisposal of land acquisitionissues.

Earlier, in another meetingheld to review the progress ofJammu Cable car project, theDiv Com directed the con-

cerned departments to put incoordinated efforts so thatheld up issues are resolved atthe earliest . STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: Expressing con-cern over the indifferentattitude of school manage-ment, the parents ofPresentation ConventSchool Gandhi Nagar onMonday accused the man-agement of playing with thecareer of the students.

Large number of parentsof Class 10 students assem-bled outside the school andstaged a protest. Raisingslogans against school man-agement, the parentsalleged that the internalassessment sent by theschool to the CBSE was notas per the performance ofthe students which resultedinto downgrading the annu-al performance of the stu-dents. The students whohave performed very well inthe theory were not givengood grades in the internalassessment due to which theresult of 10th class, whichwas declared by CBSE on

Saturday, was not satisfac-tory, they alleged.

Even the outstanding stu-dents were not given goodmarks in the internalassessment due to whichtheir CGPA got affected,the protesting parentsalleged, adding the blue-eyed students of the schoolmanagement were givenundue advantage andgrades as per their choicewhich made the genuine

performers to suffer. Theparents asked the schoolmanagement to mend itsways and demanded imme-diate redressal of theirproblems.

The parents have allegedthat school managementhas pasted a notice onSchool Notice Board stating"This result is not final anduntil you receive the CCECertificates, this may betreated as provisional."

The residents assembledat Janipur High CourtRoad and raised slogansagainst the state govern-ment and PowerDevelopment Departmentfor its failure to provideuninterrupted power sup-ply to the people ofJammu city.

The protestors said thatevery year the people ofJammu city are made tosuffer during summers onaccount of power cuts andnon-supply of drinkingwater.

In these days, when thetemperature is 44 to 45degrees, only electricityand drinking water canprovide some relief fromscorching heat but unfor-tunately both these com-modities have gone out ofthe reach of a common cit-izen, they said.

"It is the duty of electedgovernment to ensure thatpeople are not made to

suffer but in Jammu andKashmir the governmenthas least concern for thepeople and its ministersare enjoying their sum-mers in Kashmir and donot have any feeling forthe helpless people ofJammu," they empha-sized.

They maintained that itis the same CoalitionGovernment which hadgiven a categorical assur-ance that the areas whichget electronic metersinstalled will not have tosuffer any power cut.
