“Next after the availability of science and technology I think the employees are the reason behind
successful journey ISRO, and if this organization has a reputation or name in the field of science & space
is because of them and I want to be a part of those people by which I will definitely groom my
personality, knowledge and lifestyle and tomorrow when people appreciate this company I will feel proud
to be the part of this organisation.”
Where do you see yourself in five years?
Five year down the line I would like to see myself as an important part of ISRO. I would like to see
myself as a more knowledgeable, well talented, experienced person, scaling to new heights. An efficient
employee who will be more competent in skills and whom a company would not want to lose in any
circumstances.
How do you relate your previous work experience will suit this job?
In my previous position, I used many of the same skills that are needed to do this job well. And been
working as a part of ISAC I feel that it will be easy for me to adopt towards the organization culture and
use my skills effectively. I feel my experience and contacts have prepared me for this step in my career."

9. Kingfisher Airlines: The Kingfisher Airlines financial crisis refers to a series of events that led to
severe disruptions within Kingfisher Airlines. Ever since the airline commenced operations in 2005, it
has been reporting losses. After acquiring Air Deccan, Kingfisher suffered a loss of over 1,000 crore
(US$189 million) for three consecutive years. By early 2012, the airline accumulated losses of over 7,000

10. Telengana Issue: The Telangana movement refers to a group of related political activities
organised to support the creation of a new state of Telangana, from the existing state of Andhra Pradesh
in South India. The proposed new state corresponds to the Telugu-speaking portions of the erstwhile
princely state of Hyderabad. Recently on September 30 Telengana March was held at Hyderabad
demanding a separate state.
11. India at Olympics: This was India's most successful Olympics based on the medal standings,
winning a total of 6 medals (2 silver and 4 bronze), and doubling the nation's overall record in Beijing.
Two medals were awarded to the athletes in shooting and wrestling. India also set a historical milestone
for the female athletes who won two Olympic medals. Badminton player and world junior champion
Saina Nehwal became the first Indian athlete to win an Olympic bronze medal in the women's singles.
Boxer Mary Kom, on the other hand, lost to Great Britain's Nicola Adams in the semi-final match, but

12. Assam Violence: In July 2012 the Indian state of Assam saw outbreaks of riots between
indigenous Bodos and migrants of Bangladeshi origin. The first incident was reported to have taken place
on 20 July 2012As of 8 August 2012, 77 people had died and over 400,000 people were taking shelter in
270 relief camps, after being displaced from almost 400 villages. Eleven people have been reported
missing. 30,000 people from North East India have fled Bangalore after attacks and threats of more
attacks to come after Ramzan. Cities of Pune, Chennai and Hyderabad also witnessed an exodus of
people from the North East. In the national capital Delhi, rumours that people from the North-East will be
targeted, particularly after Ramzan, have started circulating sms. Union Home Ministry has banned bulk
SMS and MMS for 15 days to quell rumours and threats.

14. Lokpal Bill: The Jan Lokpal Bill, also referred to as the Citizen's Ombudsman Bill, is an anti-
corruption bill drafted and drawn up by a few self-appointed civil society activists in India seeking the
appointment of a Jan Lokpal, an independent body to investigate corruption cases. This bill also proposes
improvements to the Lokpal and Lokayukta Bill 2011, which is supposed to be passed by Lok Sabha in
December 2011.
15. Cauvery Issue: The sharing of waters of the river Cauvery has been the source of a serious
conflict between the Indian states of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. On 19th Sep 2012, Prime Minister
Manmohan Singh, who is also the Chairman of Cauvery River Authority (CRA), directed Karnataka to
release 9,000 cusecs of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu at Biligundlu (the border) daily from September 21
till October 15. But Karnataka felt that this was impractical due to the drought conditions prevailing
because of the failed monsoon. Karnataka then walked out of the high level meeting as a sign of protest.
Several Kannada organisations, under the banner of “Kannada Okkoota”, called a Karnataka bandh (close
down) on October 6 in protests against the Cauvery water release. Supreme Court of India has announced

16. Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh Assembly Election: Election commission of India on 3 October
2012 announced the election dates in New Delhi to the assemblies of Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh. The
date for Himachal Pradesh election is 4 November 2012 and for Gujarat it is 13 December and 17
December 2012.
17. Mines suspension Bellary: A report published by the LokAyukta uncovered major violations and
systemic corruption in mining in Bellary, including in the allowed geography, encroachment of forest
land, massive underpayment of state mining royalties relative to the market price of iron ore and
systematic starvation of government mining entities. There is a huge difference in the market price of the
ore and the royalty specified by the government as well as faulty measurement mechanisms of amount of
ore extracted. It was found that 35 lakh (3.5 Million) tonnes of ore were illegally exported without
paying a rupee of royalty to the exchequer, resulting in a loss of about Rs 16085 crores
18. Mines suspension Goa: Illegal mining in Goa cost the government Rs 35000 crore according to a
report recently presented in Parliament. Govt suspends all operations temporarily in 93 mines
19. Kudankulam Nuclear plant crisis: Thousands of protesters, belonging to the vicinity of the plant,
have used various means to protest against the plant fearing a Fukushima like disaster. The protesters
base their objection on the "more than 1 million people live within the 30 km radius of the KKNPP which
far exceeds the AERB (Atomic Energy Regulatory Board) stipulations. At least Rs 14,000 crore has been
spent so far over the project. And the Supreme Court ordered the Plant to function and fuel was loaded in
the reactors successfully.
20. Northern power grid failure: The July 2012 India blackout was the largest power outage in
history, occurring as two separate events on 30 and 31 July 2012. The outage affected over 620 million
people, about 9% of the world population, or half of India's population, spread across 22 states in
Northern, Eastern, and Northeast India. An estimated 32 gig watts of generating capacity was taken
offline in the outage. An article in The Wall Street Journal stated that of the affected population, 320
million initially had power, while the rest of the affected population lacked direct access. Electrical power
was restored in the affected locations between 31 July and 1 August 2012
21. Telecom 2G Scam: The 2G spectrum scam involved politicians and government officials in India
illegally undercharging mobile telephony companies for frequency allocation licenses, which they would
then use to create 2G subscriptions for cell phones. The shortfall between the money collected and the
money which the law mandated to be collected is estimated to be Template: INR Convert 45, as valued
by the Comptroller and Auditor General of India based on 3G and BWA spectrum auction prices in 2010.
However, the exact loss is disputed. In a charge sheet filed on 2 April 2011 by the investigating agency,
Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the loss was pegged at 30,984.55 crore (US$5.86 billion)

1. US Presidential Election 2012: The next United States presidential election is to be held on
Tuesday, November 6, 2012. It will be the 57th quadrennial presidential election in which presidential
electors, who will officially elect the president and the vice president of the United States on December
17, 2012, will be chosen. Incumbent President Barack Obama is running for a second and final term
during this election. His major challenger is former Massachusetts Governor, Republican Mitt Romney.
Two other candidates have attained ballot access sufficient enough to mathematically win the election by
a majority of the Electoral College: former New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson, the Libertarian Party
nominee, and Jill Stein, the Green Party nominee
2. Syria crisis: The Syrian civil war, also referred to as the Syrian uprising, is an on-going armed
conflict in Syria between forces loyal to the Ba'ath Party government and those seeking to oust it. The
conflict began on 15 March 2011 with public demonstrations as part of the wider Arab Spring. Protesters
demanded the end to nearly five decades of Ba'ath Party rule, as well as the resignation of President
Bashar al-Assad. According to various sources, between 28,000 and 42,520 people have been killed, of
which about half were civilians, but also including 15,865–17,365 armed combatants consisting of both
the Syrian army and rebel forces and up to 2,050 opposition protesters. According to the UN, about 1.2
million Syrians have been internally displaced within the country.
3. Egypt crisis: The Egyptian revolution (Revolution of 25 January) took place following a popular
uprising that began on Tuesday, 25 January 2011. The uprising was mainly a campaign of non-violent
civil resistance, which featured a series of demonstrations, marches, acts of civil disobedience, and labour
strikes. Millions of protesters from a variety of socio-economic and religious backgrounds demanded the
overthrow of the regime of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak. Despite being predominantly peaceful in
nature, the revolution was not without violent clashes between security forces and protesters, with at least
846 people killed and 6,000 injured. The uprising took place in Cairo, Alexandria, and in other cities in
Egypt, following the Tunisian revolution that resulted in the overthrow of the long-time Tunisian
president. On 11 February, following weeks of determined popular protest and pressure, Mubarak
resigned from office.

6. Libya crisis: The Libyan Civil War also referred to as the Libyan revolution was an armed conflict
in the North African state of Libya, fought between forces loyal to Colonel Muammar Gaddafi and those
seeking to oust his government. The war was preceded by protests in Benghazi beginning on Tuesday, 15
February 2011, which led to clashes with security forces that fired on the crowd. The protests escalated
into a rebellion that spread across the country, with the forces opposing Gaddafi establishing an interim
governing body, the National Transitional Council. On 16 September 2011, the National Transitional
Council was recognised by the United Nations as the legal representative of Libya, replacing the Gaddafi
government. Muammar Gaddafi remained at large until 20 October 2011, when he was captured and
killed attempting to escape from Sirte.
