CourseDescription:

ThepurposeofthiscourseistointroducestudentstoacademicEnglishlanguageusethroughdevelopingacademic reading, writing, and oral communication skills. Academic reading and writing strategies areemphasizedwithafocuson;extractinginformationfromsourcetexts,notetaking,paraphrasingandAPAcitation style. Students will write descriptive, cause and effect, and problem/solution essays based onresearch using an academic writing process.
