The Commonwealth Center for
Advanced Manufacturing (CCAM) is
seeking multiple undergraduate and
graduate student interns to perform
and participate in the research programs
of their world-class applied research
facility.
CCAM’s focus is in the accelerated
development of production ready solutions
in the fields of surface engineering,
manufacturing systems, machining technologies,
additive manufacturing, welding and joining, and
composite materials and processing.
CCAM is currently accepting applications for
the Spring 2015 term. Interns may focus in one
or more of the following research disciplines:
Programming, Manufacturing, Instrumentation &
Controls, and Materials.
Computer vision and augmented reality
Design and build of test equipment
Modeling and simulation of
manufacturing processes and equipment
Selection, installation, and data
acquisition from instrumentation and
sensors
Manufacturing process work, including
surface preparation and coating
application pertaining to plasma spray
and other processes; additive
manufacturing; machining; etc.

A genuine enthusiasm for the development and application of scien-
tific principles, engineering methods, and technology to manufactur-
ing in industry
The ability to quickly grasp key concepts needed to attack difficult
engineering and manufacturing problems
A positive, team-first attitude
The ability to work independently towards an established goal with-
out continuous oversight or assistance
At a minimum, the candidate must have partially completed a scien-
tific or engineering degree (at least two years of academic credit) at
an accredited university. Preference is given to applicants from
CCAM’s member universities.

The Commonwealth Center for Advanced Manufacturing (CCAM) is an applied research
center that provides production-ready advanced manufacturing solutions to member
companies across the globe. Members guide the research, leveraging talent and re-
sources within CCAM and at Virginia's top universities, through a collaborative model
that enables them to pool R&D efforts to increase efficiencies. Results can then be ap-
plied directly to the factory floor, turning ideas into profit faster and more affordably
than ever before. CCAM is located in a state-of-the-art research facility in Prince
George County, Virginia.
