INTRODUCTION OF PUNJAB ASSEMBLY
Established in 1897 The Provincial Assembly of the Punjab is a unicameral legislature of elected representatives of the
province of Punjab, which is located inLahore, Pakistan. The Assembly was established under Article 106 of the Constitution of Pakistan as having a total of 371 seats, with 66 seats reserved for women and eight reserved for non-Muslims.
INTRODUCTION OF PUNJAB ASSEMBLY LIBRARY
Punjab Assembly Library is the oldest Parliamentary Library in the country. It was established in 1921. It is a specialized Library.
COLLECTION OF LIBRARY
Nearly 55,000 books are available in the Library . It contains the books and material on the following subjects: Encyclopedias, including Electronic Multi Media Encyclopedias i.e. (CDs). Proceedings Video films of proceedings of various Parliaments of the world. Books on different topics i.e. History, Politics, Law and Islam etc.

INFORMATION LITERACY
Introduction:
Information literacy provides life-long learning which is important for survival in changing world. Literacy contain four types of basic skill reading, writing, arithmetic and research.
DEFINITION OF INFORMATION LITERACY
Information literacy is a set of abilities requiring individuals to "recognize when information is needed and have the ability to locate, evaluate, and use effectively the needed information.“

LIBRARIANS & INFORMATION LITERACY
Librarians have a particularly important role in information literacy. Their career focuses on identifying information problems, finding information, analyzing, synthesizing
and evaluating the information, and then ensuring that the library's community has access to the information.
Traditionally, librarians were the gate keepers and today, they are the gateways to information.

Parliamentarians need to be able to think logically. With more and more sources of information, both print and electronic, and the increasing difficulty of ensuring that parliamentarians can derive meaning from this information, the role of the librarian becomes central. Librarians are skilled in accessing and evaluating information regardless of delivery system, book or computer, and providing leadership in the appropriate use of newer information technologies.

To locate the resources found in the library or through the library’s electronic resources

To distinguish between primary and secondary sources and how each would be used in a discipline. Student is aware of resource sharing/Interlibrary Loan To determine reliability, accuracy, validity, authority, timeliness of information found. Student is aware of the legal and ethical use of information resources.
