WOMEN’S MINISTRY 2018-2019
I N C H R I S T
Together in Christ.
Together in Studying God’s word.
Together in Worship and Prayer.
Together in Serving and Outreach.
Together in Fun and Laughter.
Together in Legacy.
Our Scripture theme for this year is Colossians 3:12-17. It is one of
my favorite passages in all of God’s word, showing love, unity, and
togetherness.
Whether you have been at Mission Hills for many years or this is your
first time, we want you to join us for a year of Bible study, worship,
service, fellowship, and MomNation, our motherhood ministry. We
offer an array of support groups. This year we also have a new high
school girls ministry called Brave. Another launch for us is a study
for wives of first responders. It’s our hearts’ desire that you will make
new friends, sense the community here, and grow in your relationship
with Christ. If you are just exploring a faith journey in Christ, we can
help you with that, too.
We have a wonderful year planned for you. . . so jump in! You don’t
want to miss a thing.

BIBLE STUDIES
Our Bible studies meet in small groups, about
15-18 women, mostly multigenerational. Some
studies are an entire year long, others are two
semester studies, put together to make up a
year. We encourage you to stay in one group all
year to give you the best opportunity to build
friendships.
This year each group will have social activities
and a service project. We also encourage every
group to support our big service project in
October, Operation Christmas Child.
To choose a study that is right for you:
• Choose a level of homework intensity
• Choose a day or night of the week
These two steps will quickly set you up for
success.
Register by semester (except year-long studies)
at missionhills.org/wbs
Our morning studies provide childcare through
our wonderful Kids Ministry Weekday Program.

BRAVE REACHING INTO THE HEARTS OF THE NEXT GENERATION A Ministry for High School Girls in Partnership with Passionate Heart Ministries
BRAVE began last year with a handful of girls who were hungry to go deeper with
Jesus. We began meeting in a home, and by October 2017, we took a group of 41
girls and ladies on our very first BRAVE Retreat! That weekend, God met with
his daughters in a very powerful way!
Following that retreat, we began to meet bi-weekly in a home for worship,
speakers, and special events. Then we began our very first study together,
diving into the word of God in the area of friendships.
This adventure began because we wanted to meet the needs in high school
girls’ hearts, but very soon we saw that the adult women pouring into these
girls were also growing in their faith and in their understanding of what it
means to pass the baton of faith to the next generation. Legacy!
Now we have more than one home where hungry-hearted high school girls
are meeting. This fall, the girls will begin to study the teen versions of two of
the studies that we are offering to adult women: Seamless by Angie Smith,
and James by Matt Chandler. As their study mirrors that of the women’s study,
we will weave in quarterly BRAVE Gatherings (October 20, 2018, February
16, 2019, and May 18, 2019) where the adult women and the high school girls
are invited to come together for nights of worship, teaching, and fellowship
together.
Our desire is for our “little sisters” in Christ to see and know that we, as the
older generation, “have their backs” as they fight the fight of faith. We want
them to see women hungry for Jesus, with joy on our faces and a fire in our
own hearts as we walk through the trials of life alongside them.
If you have a high school girl in your life, we would encourage you to share
the BRAVE High School Study options with them for this fall. BRAVE studies
meet in homes every other Saturday night. For more information, contact
Sharon Sands at [email protected]. High school girls can register for this
study online at missionhills.org/wbs. For more information on BRAVE checkout:

MOMNATIONMomNation is dedicated to encouraging, equipping, and empowering
mothers through the many stages of life. Come find friendship and
inspiration to be the best mom you can be.
The theme this year is “Find your Fire.”
Never let the fire in your hearts go out. . . When you hope, be joyful.
When you suffer, be patient. When you pray, be faithful. Share with
God’s people who are in need. Welcome others into your homes.
Romans 12:11-13 (NIrV 1998)
We will choose to tend our God-given fire. We will love our children with an
all-consuming love, and use our words to warm the world. We will hold the
torch up high and shed light on what matters most. When the world seems
dark, we will be an ember of hope.

We at Mission Hills care deeply about each woman and are providing one-on-one mentoring with a confidential and caring mentor who has previously walked this journey.

GAMES, GRUB + GIVEGAME NIGHT WITH THE GIRLS

Let’s play Telestrations while eating yummy food and
donating to a wonderful organization. Bring your friends and
your gently used bras to donate to Free the Girls.
Why bras? Free the Girls partners with survivors of
trafficking and gives them bras to sell in second-hand
marketplaces. In the places they operate, bras are one of the
highest selling objects, and by clearing out your closet, you
can help provide financial and emotional freedom for these
survivors.
Bring your gently used bras to this wonderful game night,
eat some delicious food, and make a difference in the lives
of women around the world. We’ll take care of shipping the
bras to Free the Girls so you don’t have to.

David and Sissy have over forty years of experience counseling kids and

From birth to adulthood, our children’s physical and intellectual

hearts? After all, how our children develop emotionally, socially, and
spiritually will determine who they become as husbands and wives,
fathers and mothers, friends, and co-workers.
You will discover practical ways to guide your kids through any stumbling
blocks they might encounter, and help them reach the appropriate
landmarks. Along the way, David and Sissy pinpoint the different ways
boys and girls develop, so you can help your child flourish in his or her
own way.

her fourth daughter’s brief life and became an
opportunity to combine Angie’s two greatest
passions: helping to heal people’s hearts and

We’re sure each of you has a friend who could use a night like this. . .begin now thinking who you would like to invite!

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILDVOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY
October - November
This year we celebrate 25 years of shoebox distribution.
Shoebox distribution began in 1993 in war torn Bosnia.
To date 157 million children, in more than 100 countries
worldwide, have been give shoeboxes with the chance
of hearing the Gospel through the Greatest Journey
discipleship program.
May our theme “Together in Christ,” encourage us to reach
other women and children for Christ globally through this
small shoebox gift. Take this opportunity to fill a shoebox
with small gifts, selected by you, for a child in need. This is a
great family project.
Once again, we are the collection center for southwest
Denver. We begin shoebox distribution in late October, and
collection in November.
We need many volunteers. If you are interested in serving,
go to: missionhills.org/OperationChristmasChild in early
October. We will need help with heavy lifting, so invite the
men in your life to join in.
