NARFE’scurrent legislative focus:

� Defending the earned retirement,pay and health benefits of federalworkers and annuitants againstunprecedented assaults in the 112thCongress (2011-2012);

� Educating Americans about thevalue federal employees add to theirdaily lives and setting the recordstraight about federal civil servicewages, retirement and healthbenefits;

�Ensuring federal employees andretirees do not play adisproportionate role in deficit-reduction strategies;

�Working with Congress to providefederal employees with a pay raisein 2013 and restoring pay-raiseparity between federal civilianworkers and active duty militarypersonnel;

�Working with Congress and theOffice of Personnel Management toensure timely and proper processingof retirement benefits.

NARFE’sAccomplishments

� Allowing employees to transition topart-time work while collecting apartial annuity;

� Preventing expansion of the two-yearfederal employee pay freeze to includemerit-awarded step increases;

� Preventing reductions in federalemployee and annuitant compensationto offset the cost of unrelated legislationmoving through Congress;

� Protecting current federal employeesfrom proposals to increase theircontributions towards their retirementwithout an enhanced benefit;

� Defeating an amendment in the Senatepostal reform legislation that wouldhave removed postal retirees from theFederal Employees Health BenefitsProgram (FEHBP), forced them intoMedigap plans and resulted in higherpremiums for all FEHBP participants.

� Testifying before Congress six times onissues such as the retirement claimsbacklog and federal employeecompensation.
