Cerros Colorados Hydroelectric Complex
RÍO NEUQUÉN BASIN
System to control rise in level and regulation of flows from Río Neuquén to ensure water supply for human consumption, irrigation and hydropower generation.
It consists of the following dams:
Portezuelo Grande has a handling capacity of up to 11,500 m3/sec rise in level, of which 7,900 m3/sec are derived to Los Barreales basin and 3,600 m3/sec must be derived to the Portezuelo Grande-El Chañar section that, under normal operating conditions, has a constant flow of 12 m3/sec. Planicie Banderita Power Plant:
- Portezuelo Grande - Loma de la Lata - Planicie Banderita - Chañar
It forms the following reservoirs:
- Los Barreales - Mari Menuco - El Chañar
- Installed Power : 479 MW - Annual Mean Energy: 1.512 GWh/year.

Pini Mahuida – La Invernada Huitrín – Cerro Rayoso
Emhidro SEP, through an agreement entered into with Neuquén Mining Department, has carried out geological surveys of Pini Mahuida, La Invernada and Cerro Rayoso areas, to establish their regional geological and structural features. As part of the Studies Program of the Energy Sector (PESE, in Spanish) of the Department of Energy's Office, which is funded by the Andean Development Corporation (CAF, in Spanish) the development of the bidding construction projects has been tendered and awarded. The estimated date for the start of works is October 2015 and will be conducted by the consulting firms INTERTECHNE - HISSA - HCA and GRIMAUX. Pini Mahuida, La Invernada and Cerro Rayoso projects have been included in the “Power Works for the National Development and Integration Plan” prepared by the National Government in 2014 year.

The works will help to meet the growing demand for electricity in the country by taking advantage of the dam built and adding the necessary electromechanical equipment.
The Pant is located at 6 km of a 132 kV HVL, which delivers the energy generated at Provincial Interconnected System (SIP) and, through it, to the National Interconnected System (SIN).
