Home-Made Ice Cream Social Open to the Public
Saturday, August 15th
Join us at from 1:00 to 3:00 on Saturday the 15th
for some
delicious home-made ice cream! We will be serving sundaes,
cones, bowls, and banana splits. This event is for everyone and
is a fundraiser for the WOTM. Bring the kids and grandkids and
treat yourselves too!
Friday Night Dinner and Sunday Morning Breakfast
Our Friday night dinners are in jeopardy! Please sign up to cook
a meal on a Friday so we can keep this tradition going. This can
be anything at all. Come and share your favorite recipe!
Our Sunday Breakfasts are still happening thanks to some of
our wonderful volunteers. Please consider being a part of a
Sunday morning crew. Come down and fry an egg, make an
omelet, or prepare your favorite breakfast casserole as a treat to
your fellow members. We need a few more people to dedicate a
Sunday morning now and then. If you can’t cook, come on
down and EAT!
The Sunday Bingo game is on hold for the summer. Stay
tuned for updates as to when that will resume.
Upper Rogue Members are invited to an Ice Cream
Social prepared by the OMA as a reward for turning in the
most box tops and soup labels. Come on down at 1pm on
Sunday, August 9th
. We are considering having a bingo game
too since we will already be here. An email will be sent out to
let you know if we decide to do bingo and it will also be
announced on our facebook page.
Texas Hold em
Our Hold em games are going strong. We play every Monday
and Thursday at 6pm. We are all there to have a good time so
come on down and have some fun playing cards. Who knows,
you might even win something!
Burgers and Bingo every Tuesday Night!
The Upper Rogue Lodge is the place to be on Tuesdays! The
action starts at 6:00 so come early to order your burgers!
LODGE HOURS
It is our intention to keep the Lodge hours consistent with what
they have been for the past several years. We are now actively
seeking volunteer bartenders for Wednesdays and Fridays.
Many of you are probably aware that Judy Chaney was injured a
few months ago and is still trying to recover. She wants everyone
to know that she misses being there and seeing all of your smiling
faces. It looks like it will be a while before she will be able to
return but she does want to stay on the roster. In the meantime,
please let our bar and kitchen manager, Mike Hansen, know if
there is anyone out there who would like to fill in. The position
requires an Oregon Food Handlers Permit and an OLCC license.
The Lodge will be happy to assist you in obtaining these
credentials if you would like to give it a shot.
The attempted Lodge hours are:
Mon, Tue, Thur, Fri….3:00pm to at least 8:00pm
Sunday…8:30AM to 12:00 Noon
Open Saturdays for Special Events Only

volunteers! Without you, it would NOT have been possible.
AND THANK-YOU to all of you who so generously donated
and came to this event! Love and Hugggzzz to you from Marla Allison!

Upper Rogue Lodge Newsletter * August 2015 * page 2
From the Jr. Regent - Cynthia Oliver
Hello everyone- I am writing this column because, sadly, the WOTM Board has had to
accept two resignations in the past month- one from Gianna Sewell-our
Sr. Regent, and the other from Judy Hull-our Recorder. Ladies, we are
thankful for the service you were able to give. By the time this newsletter
is printed, the WOTM hope to have these positions filled.
It seems as if this summer has already flashed by and it’s almost time for
the kids to go back to school! We will be collecting school supplies from
August 1st to September 16th. Please look for the lists of needed supplies
in the dining room and put your donations in the barrel. Your donations
are important and make lasting impressions on the kids.
There will be a training session for the WOTM in Gold Hill on Saturday,
August 29th from 9am to 4pm. Please mark your calendars and make
plans to attend.
The Bunco games will be resuming this month! We will be playing on
the last Saturday of each month from 1pm to 3pm.
Our volunteers are so important to us! If you see someone helping,
please fill out a nomination form and put it in the red polka-dot box by
the lollipop tree. This is one of the ways we keep track and can honor our
volunteers and co-workers. Thanks to all of you!
CO-WORKER OF THE MONTH
Patti Stoerlle is our honoree this month. Patti has been a faithful helper
at our Tuesday Night Bingo games. Not only is she collecting for the
50/50, she and her husband Mike have also been helping clean up and
setting things right after everyone else has left – even though she has
been battling a bad back for years! She has also stepped up to chair the
Activities Committee! Thanks so much for your dedication Patti!
VOLUNTEERS OF THE MONTH
Debi Hale, Judy Barbato and Joe Sewell are our volunteers of the
month. Debi and Judy jumped into the Sunday Morning Breakfast fray
and put a team together to cook and serve 2 Sundays in July. Without
them, there would have been no WOTM breakfasts! You guys saved the
days!
Joe Sewell made sure we had a bartender in some emergency situations,
helped to prepare for meals and has supported our Lodge in many ways
since he has been here. Thanks so much Joe! We need more members
like you!

We Have a New Slate of Officers The assistant district manager for Moose Intl., Mike Hauzenberger, wanted
to help out our Lodge out so he came to Shady Cove and met with our
officers. He got permission from Moose International to appoint Joe
Sewell to Jr. Governor. Nick has moved to Treasurer and the office of
Governor is still vacant. Joe Sewell then appointed Gene Kulesza to
Administrator and Mike Hansen is now Bar and Kitchen manager.
From the Administrator- Hi, I'm your new Administrator, Gene Kulesza. Just call me Gene. We
have a new Board for the Upper Rogue and we think it's going to be fun.
We all believe that we as a MOOSE Lodge should do as the bylaws say.
Our purpose is to support both Mooseheart (our school for children that
parents can't support) and Moosehaven (a Senior citizen community for
those with 15 years as a Moose) where they can retire and know they will
have care to their end days. I have been an administrator in another lodge
for 1 1/2 years and know what we should do and how to do it. I hope you
will support all our leaders and Board members in making our Lodge
something that you, as a member, can be proud of- giving to Mooseheart,
Moosehaven and our local Community needs. Our Local community aid is
currently for Judy Draper Hull and the Casino Night held for her on July
25th. It was a great success for all to benefit Judy.

Governors News-
Hi All! We have a new beginning and our Lodge is going forward with a
new Board of Officers and a New Hope. We need to keep in mind that we
still need volunteers to move forward. The new Board will be there for
everybody. We also need everybody to be there for the Board.
On Aug 29th we are going to have an "Open House". More details to
follow. Keep that date open!
Thank you to Marla and her team for a wonderful Casino Night. And a big
thanks to all that came to support Judy. Let's not forget to keep Judy in our
prayers.
If there are any suggestions you would like to make concerning any
changes you would like to see in the Lodge please let us know, so that we
may move forward on it.
I would like to thank the previous Board Members for getting us through
the hump and kept us going.
Joe Sewell - Jr. Governor
From our new Treasurer -Nick Barbato LODGE 2480 IS NOW CLOSED What a terrible thing to have to read but we’re getting closer and
closer every day.
This is what we are up against if we don’t get some help from
VOLUNTEERS soon. The lodge needs help in every aspect of the
facility. Maintenance, kitchen staff, cashiers, servers, dishwashers, dessert
makers- and all the other jobs that keep a lodge operating. Please donate
your time and ideas. Remember “ONE DAY A MONTH” is all it takes to
keep the lodge afloat. The bartenders and board members of the LOOM
and WOTM will be more than happy to take your name and what day of
the month is best for you. No fair using February 29th as a work date.
I attended a very interesting district meeting in Klamath Falls July 19th
2015. Moose International is introducing some new and exciting ideas and
goals for members. More information to come.
That’s it for now - have a great summer.
