Friday, August 11, is the Feast of St. Clare, the founder of the 2nd Order of Franciscans. Her story is linked with
that of Francis of Assisi whose lifestyle of gospel poverty challenged men and women of his time.
Come and celebrate a service in honor of St. Clare and discover how her life of prayer and simplicity can help us embrace our struggle to live our calling. We will gather at 7:30 PM in the church (17 Pompton Ave., Pompton Lakes, NJ); come and celebrate this woman whose mission inspired so many early Franciscans.

The Summer Session of a Fun Family Music Class runs for 6 weeks; classes started July 11
Tuesdays 9:30 – 10:15 AMEach class is 45 minutes.

Project LINC—A program of the Aging Services Depart-ment of Catholic Family and Community Services which serves seniors who live in upper Passaic County, taking them to medical and other appointments as needed. El Proceso de Encuentro en la pastoral hispana/latina ha sido una vivencia profundamente eclesial. Es motivado por la lectura de los signos de los tiempos y convocado por los obispos, quienes llaman al pueblo hispano/latino à elevar su voz profética. En el contexto de este diálogo entre los obispos y el pueblo se vive una pastoral de conjunto iluminada por una eclesiología de comunión y una vocación misionera que busca llegar hasta aquellos que se encuentran alejados de la vida y de la visión de la iglesia. El objetivo central del Proceso de Encuentro es discernir la respuesta pastoral de la iglesia hacia la presencia hispana/latina y potenciar la respuesta del pueblo hispano/latino como iglesia.

Estudió teología en Palencia y fue nombrado canónigo de la Iglesia de Osma. Con su predicación y con su vida ejemplar combatió con éxito la herejía albigense. Con los compañeros que se le adhirieron en esta empresa, fundó la Orden de Predicadores. Un día pensó: “¿Cómo podré yo seguir estudiando en pieles muertas (pergaminos), cuando hermanos míos en carne viva se mueren de hambre?”. Un día llegó a su presencia una mujer llorando y le dijo: “Mi hermano ha caído prisionero de los moros”. A Domingo no le queda ya nada que dar. Decide venderse como esclavo para rescatar al esclavo. Este acto de Domingo conmovió a Palencia

VIERNES 11DE AGOSTO: Fiesta de Santa Clara de AsísHoy, día de santa Clara de Asís (1194-1253), escuchamos un fragmento del Evangelio de Juan en el contexto de la Última Cena, en la que Jesús, despidiéndose de los suyos, a punto de marcharse, apunta una nueva manera de estar unidos a Él. Se va físicamente, pero podemos estar con Él mística y sacramentalmente. El papa Francisco decía comentando este mismo fragmento: “Jesús es la Vid, y a través de Él, como la savia en el árbol, pasa a los sarmientos el mismo Amor de Dios, el Espíritu Santo”. Recibimos la plenitud del Espíritu Santo cuando “estamos en” o “permanecemos en” Él. Este es el resumen concentrado de la vida de santa Clara: el “ser en” Dios, expresado en la unión entre los sarmientos y la vid, queda descrito por Clara en su cuarta “Carta a santa Inés de Praga”, donde explica la manera como ella misma vive esta unión: “Su amor cautiva, su contemplación nutre, su benignidad llena y su suavidad sacia; su dulce recuerdo ilumina, su perfume hará revivir a los muertos y su visión gloriosa hará felices a todos los ciudadanos de la Jerusalén celestial”.

Summer English Language Learner (ELL) Program—Programa de Aprendizaje del Inglés de Verano (ELL). Un curso de verano comenzará el lunes, 16 de junio. Las clases se desarrollarán hasta el 2 de agosto y se celebrarán en el centro de Carnevale los lunes y miércoles (excepto la semana del carnaval). Este programa se dedicará a nivel uno (muy poco inglés) y nivel dos (algún comando de inglés). Inscripciones serán el 19 junio.

Monaguillos. Los acólitos ayudan al Celebrante (Sacerdote) en el altar durante las misas dominicales, en las bodas y fiestas especiales del año. Son elegibles para este ministerio jóvenes, niños y niñas, desde el quinto año escolar hasta la escuela secundaria que hayan recibido la Primera Comunión, o que se estén preparando para recibirla. St. Mary’s -Food Pantry
Currently we have approximately 175 families enrolled in our Food Pantry. This comes to about 480 people (adults & children). They live mainly in Pompton Lakes, Wanaque, Haskell, Bloomingdale and Butler.
Included in the 480 people are about 185 children under the age of 18, about 38 seniors 65 & older and over 50 singles of all ages.
