Matthew Moffett is the immediate past president of the Georgia Defense Lawyers Association and defends wrongful death and serious injury cases in state and federal courts. Several years ago, Matthew secured a defense verdict in a wrongful death case, opposite the author and creator of the Reptile Trial Strategy. Since then, Matt has presented across the country to defense lawyer organizations, industry associations and for DRI on how to counter and prevail against this strategy, both in discovery and at trial.

Chief Judge Dana L. Christensen
of the US District Court for the District of Montana On May 4, 2011, President Obama nominated Dana Christensen to the United States District Court for the District of Montana to a seat vacated by Donald Molloy. Judge Christensen was a private practice attorney for his entire career, prior to his nomination to the federal court. He practiced in Billings, Montana from 1977-1981 and in Kalispell, Montana from 1981-2011.

Bullivant Houser Bailey, PC, Portland, OR Jeanne Loftis is a trial attorney who represents companies in the Pacific Northwest in a wide variety of commercial and casualty cases, with an emphasis on asbestos product liability claims and other mass tort litigation. Her cases have involved product liability, insurance coverage, premises liability, enforcement of non-competition agreements, construction injury and defect, investor mismanagement and fraud, environmental cleanup, and high exposure vehicular casualty cases. Learn the history behind the petition that brought about In Re Rules; engage in a conversation on counsel’s responsibilities under the Rules of Professional Conduct as it relates to the defense of their client, how to handle prior-approval requirements, billing guidelines, and third party audits; and participate in a discussion on the ethics of flat fees and the right of insureds to select their own counsel. The discussion will include the history of Rule 26 amendments, proportionality in the scope of discovery, cost allocation, preservation/sanctions, and other rule amendments.
