understanding of the production brief.

Music Video Research
Each group member will need to analyse 3 – 5 music videos (5 would be ‘excellent’ – see
marking criteria). All your analysis MUST be illustrated – using screenprints etc to highlight
particular shots, mise en scene etc, and can be presented in a format of your choice ie
powerpoint, video, illustrated essay, prezi etc
It is ESSENTAIL that you apply the theories we have looked in class (see handout).
This will be used later for Question 1 of the EVALUATION

TASK 3 (deadline – 7th Oct)

Artist/Genre Research
For this you must research the branding and the marketing campaigns of artists who already
fit into your chosen genre, & band/artist that you have chosen. For this you should look at
promotional photos, websites and, of course, album covers etc

music videos that each produce

Primary Audience Research:
You must complete some in depth audience research on your target audience for your new
album, including in depth audience feedback throughout the production process

To conduct your audience research make sure you make use of digital technologies, ie
Facebook and other internet social networking sites etc
Here your must demonstrate an understanding of your potential audience for your video and
print products
Create an ‘audience profile’ of your potential audience ie who are they? Could have ‘Collage’
style image or photos to represent chosen target audience
TASK 2 (deadline – 14th Oct)
Secondary Audience Research
Can you find articles etc on fan cultures, research that has already been compiled to help
you understand your audience. Use ideas from our session on Fan Cultures & the case
