Introduction
Welcome to the website of our village graveyard survey. Members of Maids Moreton Conservation Group carried out a survey of the graveyard of St. Edmund's Church in 2012/2013. The purpose was to provide easily accessible information about individuals and families who have been buried in the parish of Maids Moreton. The earliest gravestone records a burial in 1710, but there have been burials close to the church from the time of its rebuilding c.1450 and probably from Anglo-Saxon times. We initially used records started by Mrs May Warren and friends in 1994, but these were in draft form and needed checking and completing. We recorded the entire inscription from each stone, and every effort was made not to miss texts at the base of gravestones or around the kerbs of graves. Please note that so far we have only recorded the older area of the graveyard around the church, and have not included on this website headstones situated in the churchyard Extension. The latter date from c. 1934, and for information about these burials please apply to the Rector. However, it is worth first searching the website survey as it includes many headstones later than 1934 which were placed in the older section of the graveyard. A location plan of the gravestones with their reference numbers is to be found below, and it is hoped that particular memorials can easily be located using this plan plus the pictures of individual gravestones. However, over time graveyards change and occasionally very old memorials are moved elsewhere - therefore we cannot guarantee perpetual accuracy of what is displayed in this website. On the location plan 'E' represents the churchyard Extension and 'F' is the area for cremations. Our website survey covers A - D and G. Useful information about Maids Moreton's past can be found at www.bucksfhs.org.uk Thank you to everyone who contributed to this website. March 2013

C30 FELLOWES 1848, 1851
To the memory of Capt. John Fellowes late of the Royal Bucks or Kings Own Regiment of Militia of the First Battalion of Provisional Militia also Captain and Adjutant of the Royal Bucks Regiment of Yeomanry Cavalry who died at Buckingham 24th August 1848 in the 68th year of his age universally respected and lamented. Through life he was of a disposition mild and unassuming humane and benevolent always ready to do good to others never turning his face from an object of charity but willing to relieve the distressed to the utmost of his powers and although he is now no more his memory survives in the hearts of all who knew him and will ever be held in the highest regard and esteem. Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord For they rest from their labours. This tomb [is] sacred to the memory of Lieutenant MICHAEL MACNAMARA Many years the brother officer and constant friend to the late Captain JOHN FELLOWES and like him held in high and general esteem as the benevolent and just [ ]. Receiving their Commissions in the Royal Bucks Regiment at nearly the same time in the year 1798 went to Ireland. A preference in companionship arose between them which ripening into warm attachment continued throughout their united services in that regiment and in the first Provisional Battalion and after the termination of the war. In the year 1815 they dwelt together in private life under the influence of genuine friendship until it pleased God by the death of one to separate them. Their remains are deposited in this vault by the survivor who died at Buckingham 13th March 1851 aged 79 years.

To the memory of Capt. John Fellowes late of the Royal Bucks or Kings Own Regiment of Militia of the First Battalian of Provisional Militia also Captain and Adjutant of the Royal Bucks Regiment of Yeomanry Cavalry who died at Buckingham 24th August 1848 in the 68th year of his age universally respected and lamented.
