Congratula ons to the Gordon West Public School deba ng team on their victory in the District Deba ng final held at the Ku‐ring‐gai Council Chambers last Tuesday evening. The Gordon West team debated against Putney Public School with our team taking the affirma ve posi on on the topic, “Private Schools Should Not Receive Government Funding.” Congratula ons to Mrs Whiteman, Ms Archer and Ms Fitness the deba ng coordinators on this most pres gious achievement. A more detailed report is enclosed later in the Bulle n.
Congratula ons to Ms Wolujewicz and her team for the wonderfully efficient organisa on of the K‐2 Athle cs Carnival today. Spectators, par cipants and carnival organisers all worked together to make the day a success. Everyone had a great me and were enthusias cally involved. Congratula ons to the students who were successful in their races and to all other students who did their personal best on the day.
Also thank you to Salvatore Castelnuovo for twice marking the running track for prac ce sessions and then again for the main event. Hopefully by this me next year our architecturally designed improvements to the fixed equipment/quiet area end of the oval will be completed. Showcase 2018 was wonderful! The quality of organisa on and performances were marvellous with the presenta on running like clockwork. This year’s Showcase was enjoyed by all. The Showcase performance was a great opportunity for 597 Gordon West students to become involved in a very successful Crea ve and Performing Arts presenta on where the school and community worked very closely together to achieve this end. What talented children, staff and parents we have at Gordon West PS evidenced by the presenta on and quality of individual, group and class items. As I have stated previously it is days like these that make us all feel proud of being associated with Gordon West Public School. Congratula ons to Mrs Garland and her team for organising such a successful presenta on. A big thank you to Mrs Wendy Hawkins and
her team of willing helpers for organising such a scrump ous morning tea. The Kindergarten Orienta on mornings were held on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings of last week and were a wonderful opportunity to invite the future genera on of Gordon West children to our school. The Kindy Buddies took their responsibili es very seriously and really looked a er their visitors. Now that the children are more familiar with the Gordon West surroundings the Early Bird program later in Term 4 shouldn’t be such a daun ng experience. Kindergarten numbers for 2019 are very strong so please encourage anyone that you know who hasn’t enrolled for next year to do so immediately. Thank you for your support over the past term. Have a safe and happy holiday. Summer uniform is to be worn from the start of Term 4.
Students and staff resume on Monday 15
