1. On this dale the Director called a. meeting in connection
with the Chilean situation. Present in addition to the Director

prevent Allende t ram coming to power or to unseat him.. The
President authoriz.ed ten :million dollaj's for this purpose, if
needed. Further, The Agency is to carry out this mission without
coordination with the Departments of State ox De!cn~c .
3. Dur-ing the meeting it w2.s decided that Mr. Thomas
Kara.m.cssincs~ DDP. wot.Jld have ovet'~ll responsibility for this
project. He would be as sist ed hy a speci;l1 t.sk force set up tor
this purpos e in. the Wes tet:"n Hemisphero Divis ion.
