NEWSLETTER “Providing Educational Excellence and Community
Service since 1955 “
Guidance Corner Congratulations all of the students of Samuel Everitt who participated in the Pennies for Patients program. Our goal was to collect $1,500.00. The students should be very proud of their efforts. As a school we collected $1,857.38 to help the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society fight childhood blood cancers. The top fundraising class was Ms. Bowman’s fourth grade class. They collected an incredible $242.30. Mrs. Gainer’s class was second with $194.15 and Ms. McMahon's class was third with a total of $167.66. Thanks to all from the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Remember to have your children wear sneakers for Physical Education. During the month of March the curriculum will focus on rhythmic movement. During this unit grades K-5 will be working on developing skills in dance and other rhythmic movements.
Important Safety Reminder
Please do not drop your children off at school prior to 8:30am. We have no staff supervision outside prior to 8:30am. Some children have been dropped off as early as 8am. Also, children that walk to school should not arrive prior to 8:30am. Children dropped off after 8:50am must be brought to the office and signed in by an adult.
First-grader Augustine Owusu-Sarfo is making a name for himself playing the educational online math game First In
Math.
Augustine has ranked 33rd among the top 100 ranked first graders in the
entire state of Pennsylvania, and third place for all grade levels at Everitt. The game is a multi-grade resource for
teaching math in a competitive, fun way. It is designed to complement
common-core standards, offering math fluency and practice skills that introduce
children as young as kindergarten and first-grade to basic elements of algebra. It is web-based and can be played
anywhere and any time, encouraging kids to build good practice habits. His
teacher, Mrs. Bettelli, and the entire school are very proud of him.
Augustine's teacher, Kerry Bettelli, said the
entire school is proud of him.
Notification Letter for Parents or Guardians
March 2015
The Neshaminy School District uses an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) approach for managing insects, rodents and weeds. Our goal is to protect every student from pesticide exposure by using an IPM approach to pest management. Our IPM approach focuses on making the school building and grounds an unfavorable habitat for these pests by removing food and water sources and eliminating their hiding and breeding places. We accomplish this through routine cleaning and maintenance. We routinely monitor the school building and grounds to detect any pests that are present. The pest monitoring team consists of our building, office, and teaching staff and includes our students. Pest sightings are reported to our IPM contractor who evaluates the “pest problem” and determines the appropriate pest management techniques to address the problem. The techniques can include increased sanitation, modifying storage practices, sealing entry points, physically removing the pest, etc. From time to time, it may be necessary to use pesticides registered by the Environmental Protection Agency to manage a pest problem. A pesticide will only be used when necessary, and will not be routinely applied. When a pesticide is necessary, the school will try to use the least toxic product that is effective. Applications will be made only when unauthorized persons do not have access to the area(s) being treated. The Schedule for all Neshaminy School District monthly IPM services will be posted in all Main Office sites throughout the year. Staff and parents or guardians of students enrolled in the school may request prior notification of specific pesticide applications made at the school. To receive notification, you must be placed on the school’s notification registry. If you would like to be placed on this registry, please send a letter to the Neshaminy School District Facilities Department, 2001 Old Lincoln Highway, Langhorne, PA 19047 If a pesticide application must be made to control an emergency pest problem, notice will be provided via the Neshaminy School District web site and postings in the site’s Main Office. Exemptions to this notification include disinfectants and antimicrobial products; self-containerized baits placed in areas not accessible to students, and gel type baits placed in cracks, crevices or voids; and swimming pool maintenance chemicals. If you have any questions, please contact the Facilities Office at 215-809-6250.
