Football News
On Thursday this week, two Y3 and Y4 football teams braved the icy wind to represent Perranporth in
some friendly matches against Blackwater School. Our teams were named ‘Perranporth Town’ and
‘Perranporth United’ and were a mixture of Y3 and Y4 boys. The first match saw Perranporth United take
an almost instant lead and then the goals came thick and fast from lots of players. A great result for the
home team with a 5 - 0 win! Perranporth Town had a more challenging match with lots of end to end
action. Again, Perranporth took an early lead and seemed to dominate the opening spell. As we had
an extra player, Arty very kindly agreed to play for Blackwater to try to keep things fair. This made a
huge difference and ensured a very exciting game which finished 2 –2. Despite the freezing weather,
everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves and represented the school brilliantly! Thank you for the great
support from parents and a huge well done to all!
Online Safety Parent Workshop
On Wednesday the 8th of February at 3:30pm we will be hosting an online
safety information event for parents and carers of children in every year
group. PC Andy Mulhern along with an online safety PCSO and Mrs Rob-
erson (ICT Co-ordinator) will be delivering this presentation. The session will
provide practical advice and safety tips to help manage online safety is-
sues, and discussions surrounding suitable behaviour online. The children
will also be taking part in a series of E-safety sessions throughout the week
during the school day.

Playground Leaders
At playtimes and lunchtimes we now have some new Playtime Leaders! These Year 6 volunteers went
through some special training with Mr Howes in leadership skills and different types of games. Acting as
great role models, the Playtime Leaders have been teaching some of our younger children lots of new
games and skills with some exciting new playtime equipment. The leaders have been a great success
at lunchtimes and lots of fun for everyone involved.

Perranporth Pantomime
A huge well done to Anabel Salmon in Davy Class who’s programme design
has been chosen as the winning entry for the PIPS pantomime of The Wizard of
Oz this year. Anabel has won a family set of tickets! Lots of children entered
the competition and their designs will also be displayed at the pantomime.
Performances are on 27th Jan at 7pm, Jan 28th at 2pm and 7pm and Jan 29th
at 2pm at Perranporth Memorial Hall. Tickets for these shows are available
from Hill's newsagents and Snippets in Perranporth.
Indoor Athletics
Our Year 5 and 6 athletes had a great time at the Cornwall School Games Indoor Athletics qualifier this
week. They produced some excellent results, with the girls relay team storming to victory in their heat
at the end of the session. Everyone did their absolute best and can be truly proud of their contributions
to an excellent team effort. The events included relay races, obstacle courses and javelin throws, as
well as long jump and our favourite, speed bounce! We came sixth in the event and are very proud of
all involved!
