Job Description
We are seeking a suitable fitter / assembly worker to join our skilled workshop team with:
• Mechanical & Assembly experience. (Min 5 Years)
• Hydraulic and Electrical knowledge.
• High quality of workmanship and attention to detail.
• Lean Manufacturing exposure is desirable.
• Team focused
• Good Communication Skills
Position Purpose Statement:
The successful applicant must actively participate in all aspects of the production and
assembly to enable the manufacturing of product with a focus of quality and on time
customer delivery.
The reliable supply of product shall be met in accordance with the production plan
while meeting all safety, health, environment and cost objectives.
Supervision / Co-ordination:
You will be required to take direction from the Team Leader on the day to day activities
on the production floor (Work in Progress, etc).
Assist the Team Leader with the production orders to ensure quality levels and
throughput levels are maintained.
Communicate with the Team Leader to help achieve and ensure operational
objectives are met.
Assist the Team Leader with all manufacturing requirements during production to
maximise output and minimise cost.
Skills:
Undertake all necessary skills required for the Assembly of Safetech product range.
In house training will be provided (Fitting and Assembly of the Lift Tables, Freight Hoists,
Lo Hoists, Wrappers, Gorbel Cranes and Dock Levelling Products etc).
Stock Control:
Assist with stocks control and materials for the manufacturing of goods.
Notify the Team Leader or Purchasing Officer if min stock levels or kanban levels are
reached.
Assist in stock counts.
Cost Control:
Assist the Team Leader to capture the costs for product groups and product types.
(Record your individual labour time spent on the job or work order).
Quality / Specifications:
Assist the Team Leader on any quality issues raised from in-house manufacture or the
supplied product from our local or international suppliers.
Assist the Team Leader by filing out Quality Control Documents.
Communication / Goal Setting:
Involvement in production meetings: W.I.P, General Toolbox, 5S, Lean etc.
Assistance to the Team Leader to record Key Performance indicators (KPI’s).
Report any shortcoming of achieving goals set immediately upon obtaining
knowledge.
5S / House Keeping:
Ensures all staff are constantly working on continuous improvement and housekeeping
activities to provide a safe and effective work environment. (5S etc.)
Participate to improve internal Audits results.
Training:
Engage in training and coaching activities to help perform the role to the highest
degree.
Participate in self-development training courses and internal product training.
Asset Management:
Assist the Team Leader with the company assets to maintain them in good condition
through preventative maintenance and short term breakdown repairs.
Work with Teams/Management to offer suggestions for continual improvement that will
assist our Safety and Quality.
Safety/ OHS/Culture/HR:
Leads by example the safety culture and actively participates by offering suggestions
to the OHS committee members. Filling out business improvement notices (B.I.N) and
incident / near miss reporting.
Report any HR issues relating to their work area to management if they arise.
Undertake any other responsibilities, consistent with skills, qualifications and experience
may be required from time to time and perform general duties as directed.
E.g. working in any area within Safetech production, warehousing, yard, onsite work, or
any related roles.
