• What is FERC?– Federal Energy Regulatory Commission
• Made up of 5 commissioners appointed by the President
– Federal agency that regulates the interstate transmission of electricity, natural gas, and oil
– Reviews proposals to relicense hydropower projects
– Licenses and inspects private, municipal, and state hydroelectric projects;
• What FERC is not– Regulation of retail electricity– Issuance of Water Quality Certificates

Notice of Release of eFiling v7.0
• FERC released version 7.0 of their filing system
• Enhancements include:– Expansion of acceptable documents– Entire permits with CEII material can be filed– Hydropower proceedings can be filed– Permits up to 200 files can be uploaded– New maximum file size of 50 MB– Expansion of acceptable file names up to 60
characters and allows special characters– Motions to Intervene now available electronically– Provides a Quick Comment option for
hydropower licensing
