FEBRUARY 2014
CPC Severe Service Tungsten Carbide trims for Choke Valve Manufacturers is gaining pace
as we continue to supply high quality trims designed to meet the severe service process
conditions yet fit within a standard choke valve manufacturers body.
Tungsten Carbide Trims
The above represents a total of 5 off solid Tungsten Carbide trims supplied to a choke
valve manufacturer for a project in the Middle East. These trims were unique in that
they had to be designed for a well life of 25 years and as such CPC were able to design
a Multipath Trim plus an integrated cage to manage all process conditions throughout
the life of the wells.
Additionally we have recently supplied 2
complete 1” Tungsten Carbide Trims for
the Murphy Sarawak Platform in the Far
East.
This Multipath Trim had the requirement
for 6 stages of pressure reduction which
was manufactured completely as one
sintered piece.
Critical Parts Delivery

The Electricity Supply Board of Ireland (ESBI) required urgently a new trim for a CCI
high pressure control valve. They had contacted the original equipment manufacturer
(CCI) who could not supply the parts to meet the customers urgent requirements as they
were only shut down for 4 weeks. This trim had experienced severe erosion due to the
high pressure drop and CPC identified that the materials being used by CCI were
inadequate for the process conditions. CPC got hold of the trim and reverse engineered,
designed and manufactured a complete plug and seat ring for this valve out of Inconel
718 within 3 weeks enabling ESB to meet their shutdown time and bring the plant back
to service.
CPC delivers 2 off BTG VLBSE-125BTC Plug Assemblies to Calpine Energy in the USA
within 6 weeks along with 2 complete trim sets for a CCI Spraywater valve in Inconel
718 with a disk stack of 4-24 stages pressure reduction.
