Common ThemesHOV – Large volume of comments received. Themes include:• significant opposition to HOV along the Parkways in any form,
though some support of HOV-2+ in lieu of HOV-3+• concern for the impact to neighborhoods if motorists divert to
alternative routes/local roads to avoid the Parkways
Tolls – Large volume of comments received. Themes include:• strong opposition to tolling• concern for the impact tolls would have on residential
communities served by the Parkways• disadvantaged communities • increased burden on locals using the Parkways to
complete short, local trips.
Widening and Interchanges – Moderate volume of comments received. Themes include:• support for widening, but not for an HOV-exclusive lane• support for interchanges to eliminate signalized intersections• concerns regarding the impact to property values for homes
adjacent to the Parkways
Bike/Ped – Few comments received. Themes include: • support for enhanced facilities• opposition to widening if bike/ped facilities will be impacted• support for a continuous bike route along the Parkways, as there
are existing gaps in the network
Transit – Few comments received. Themes include:• support of enhanced transit • support for an increase in the number of park-and-ride lots to
accommodate transit and carpooling• support for a metro line between Franconia-Springfield Parkway
and Dulles Airport
