the Texas War of Independence Leaders: James Bowie, William Travis and Davy
Crockett Fought against Mexican soldiers (Mexican-
American war) Texans lost at the Alamo, THIS LOSS
encouraged the remaining soldiers to continue fighting and eventually gained the Texan independence at the Battle of San Jacinto
Trail of Tears 1838 Treaty of New Echota: Cherokee had to give up
their land east of the Mississippi 1,000 mile route from Georgia to Oklahoma 4000 Native Americans died (Disease,
starvation, and exposure)

this route
1849- Gold Rush Gold was discovered at Sutter’s Mill in
California In two years, 40,000 prospectors came to
