ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
We are gladly thankful to Director , Prof. C.N.Jasani sir
and Head of the Department Prof. H. H. Gajera (CIVIL) and
for giving such great opportunities to learn something new
and giving us technical knowledge.
We are also thankful to our faculty who gave us a great
guidance regarding estimation of materials and instructed us
towards the importance of the estimation and costing in the
field of civil engineering.
So we decided to organize the two days workshop on
“ESTIMATION, COSTING & ITS APPLICATION ” at Om
engineering college.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Om engineering college, department of civil engineering
had organized the two days workshop on “ESTIMATION,
COSTING & ITS APPLICATION” for developing the skill
in estimation of materials and total costing of any structure. In
this workshop students from different colleges of civil branch
from saurashtra regions were participated.
Prof. C.N.Jasani sir, the Director of Om engineering
college guided the students about the importance of some
technical skills in various fields.
Prof. H. H. Gajera, the Head Of Department of Civil
Engineering explain the importance to students about the
valuation and costing of structure in field of civil
engineering ; that are helpful to determination of cost of
building.
Prof.J.S.Makadiya, the faculty of Civil Engineering
Department, has conducted the two days sessions and taught
the estimation and costing of building.
Welcome Session
Welcome speech was given by Prof. Y.P.GADHVI, Faculty
from general department. He heartily welcome to all invited
students behalf of OM ENGINEERING COLLEGE also he
gives the little introduction about the OM ENGINEERING
COLLEGE
PURPOSE OF ATTENDING WORKSHOP
Building Estimation and Costing is a vital part of
Civil Engineering. No project can begin without the total
Building Estimation and Costing done by the Engineer. The
entire Cost of construction and the infrastructure used for the
purpose of construction is estimated and the final costing is
done on the basis of which a certain percentage of the Project
cost is paid to the Engineer, the Architect and other
consultants involved in the project.
Our main purpose for organizing this workshop for students is
to give knowledge about
To estimate the total quantity materials of building.
To determine the total cost of materials.
To determine the entire cost of construction.
To know the actual Value of property in market.
WHAT WE LEARN?
On first day at 09:00 am the students registered
their name and the workshop started with the welcome speech
of Mr. Y.P.Gadhvi.
Introduction
At the beginning, Mr.J.S.Makadiya gave
introduction about the workshop and explains the objective of
workshop. They also explains to the students importance of
estimation and costing. Then, Makadiya Sir gave carrier
orientive guidance, and give brief of two days of workshop.
In the session of first day, the general introduction, estimation
and modes of measurement, estimation of quantities for
brickwork, working out quantities and deductions in civil
works, market rates of material and labors, Introduction to
schedule of rates, entering quantities and rates in abstract
sheet, calculation of estimated cost. were taught.
After the basic learning the students were made to estimate of
materials of building.
In the next day the rate analysis, Determination of material
requirement for a given quantity of items of civil works,
Study of SOR, Working out rates of 10m³ brickwork,
Working out rates of 10m³ plaster, Working out rates of roof
truss, Working out rates of G.I. Sheets, etc. were taught.
At last a students were given task of estimation and costing of
college's workshop.
After the completion of workshop, a visit of construction site
was arranged for students to learning concept of estimation
and costing practically.
At the site, students learn different methods of estimation and
difference between separate wall method and center line
method they also learn how to calculate the quantity of
different items like, brickwork, concrete etc.
CONCLUSION
From the completion of this workshop, students learnt
about
types of estimate and duties of an Estimator
rate analysis of civil engineering works
Determine the rates of various items of civil works
Calculate estimated cost of civil construction projects
Evaluate the actual value of any property.
Thank You
