EVENT REPORT
Earth Day is an annual Event celebrated on April 22, worldwide. On this day many
events are held to demonstrate support for Environmental Protection all over the
world. G.D.Goenka Public School, SaritaVihar also initiated this cause wherein
numerous activities were held for an entire week focusing on Environmental
issues.
The students of class III very enthusiastically participated in making and coloring
‘Earth Day Badges’ as part of the Environment week activities. They colored these
badges with beautiful blue and green colors that symbolize the Water and Land
on Earth. They also wrote two pledges that they would take to make the Earth a
better place to live in. This activity was their small contribution towards a –
GREENER, CLEANER AND PEACEFUL EARTH-THEIR HOME, THEIR PLANET.
They proudly wore these badges on the Day of the special assembly conducted in
the school on EARTH DAY! And participated in the pledge taken by the whole
school to make the Earth a better place to live in.

REPORT: Planting a Sapling by Class IV

EVENT REPORT The students of class IV very enthusiastically participated in planting saplings in
the school premises with the belief that every tree/plant that grows will take us
towards a GREENER AND CLEANER EARTH.
The students were taken down to the ground where they planted beautiful
seasonal saplings all along on one side of the school. They also put banners all
across where they had planted the saplings, giving a message that everyone can
take care of the Earth in their own small way.

REPORT: Card Making Activity by Class V

EVENT REPORT
A Card Making Activity during the Environment Week was held on Tuesday, April
21, 2015. The theme was “GO GREEN”. The students of Class V made very
impressive handmade cards with eco-friendly decorative materials like
handmade paper, ribbons, dried leaves and flowers, glitter and buttons. The
captions written by them were such that it made one believe that it was best to
catch them young and teach them how at a personal level we can all make a
sizeable difference towards our planets’ survival by conserving water, electricity,
power and fuel, planting trees, minimizing the usage of bio-degradable
substances and SWITCHING to renewable sources of energy. The students of
Class V enjoyed this wonderful experience of crafting their own creative cards.

REPORT: Paper Bag Making Activity by Class VI
DATE: Tuesday, April 21, 2015
EVENT REPORT
A Paper bag making Activity during the Environment Week was held on Tuesday,
April 21, 2015. The theme being “SAVE THE EARTH” saw children making
beautiful paper bags. The students used old newspapers, magazine pages, etc. to
make attractive bags of all shapes and sizes. Natural strings were made out of
jute and coir and natural objects for decoration were used such as dry leaves and
flowers. The children resolved to accept collective responsibility to save our
planet Earth by spreading an awareness to greatly reduce usage of plastic bags
and encourage the use of only paper bags for all purposes.

REPORT: Collage Making Activity by Class VII

EVENT REPORT
A Collage Making Activity during the Environment Week was held on Tuesday,
April 21, 2015. The theme being “GLOBAL WARMING” saw children making
beautiful posters depicting various methods to save our environment. The striking
posters made by the students stressed on ways to reduce global warming by
adopting simple actions like reduce, reuse, recycle, usage of less energy in the
house and at school, ditching the car, planting a tree etc. The activity was really
enjoyed by the students and this also raised an alarm in their little minds that
what a DIFFERENCE each one of them could make in contributing to save the
environment. The children resolved to accept collective responsibility to save our
planet Earth.

REPORT: Special Assembly on Earth Day
DATE: Wednesday, 22 April, 2015
EVENT REPORT
“Mother Earth is the culmination of multiple and diverse energies, which is
brought together to create a rich aesthetic experience with a message of
harmony and co-existence”.
A Special Assembly was conducted at G.D. Goenka Public School, Sarita Vihar on
the occasion of Earth Day led by the students of Class-III to demonstrate the
support and concern for Environmental protection. The assembly started with the
prayer “You are my all in all” followed by the “Gayatri Mantra”.
To dedicate this day to Mother Earth the dance troupe of the school performed
on the theme “Return to Nature” which was well choreographed and kept toes
tapping. The dance sequence exhibited the harm caused to our environment by
mankind for their personal benefit, the ill effects of environmental pollution on
living beings and showcased the solutions to save with slogans - Reuse, Recycle,
Repair, Re-Think ,Reduce and Refuse to protect and preserve the green planet.
The thought of the day was presented by Vidhi Latwal and the news was read out
by Syed Fatima Hussain, Mazen Moiz and Mannat Raheja.
A Beautiful mélange of an Indian and a western song “I am the earth” and another
melodious number “Dharti Maa Meri Pyari Maa” was sung by the students. There
was a presentation of articles too, by our young environmentalists at GDGPS SV to
highlight the significance of Earth Day. The assembly concluded with the address
by the Principal, Mrs. Seema Sahay who motivated and enriched the young minds
about the ways in which each one could contribute to safeguard the Planet Earth.
A Pledge was undertaken by all Goenkans to value the generosity of Mother Earth
and create an awareness to keep the Earth Clean and Green. The assembly was
dispersed after the National Anthem.
