Global warming and climate change are challenges that require proactivity and multi-disciplinary, multi-professional and multi-organisational R&D work in many spheres of human life.
The BDCD Energy project (2015-2017-2020) aims at enhancing change at three levels by developing:
the energy system towards increased utilization of renewable energy,
the market and businesses towards prosumers, and
households and individuals towards intelligent homes and reasonable energy behaviour.

To achieve the changes, the researchers have to interact across the disciplinary boarders of their own fields of science, and across the boundaries of the academia with the crucial stakeholders.
Interaction and communication must be enhanced and knowledge management (KM) methods used for gaining shared understanding and developing a joint ‘language’, i.e. a joint terminology for co-creation of interdisciplinary and crossdisciplinary new knowledge.

First innovative outcome of R&D:Energy Weather Forecast
Energy Communities
Intelligent two-way electricity system allows forming new types of communities for increasing the impact of electricity produced by renewable energy sources including households’ own production.
This idea is under co-development and testing together with the Energy Authority and private companies

Enhancing and Investigating Interaction 1
Case 1: Identifying the knowledge-base of this R&D project as a foundation for new interdisciplinary conceptions: Clean Energy Research (CER) terminology set up on Finnish Term Bank in Arts and Sciences, and will be included in the FinnishNational Ontology FINTO maintained by the National Library.
Case 2: Etnographic study of interactive events for knowledge creation based on Hermeneutic phenomenology by Gadamer (2004) and Heidegger.Data collected in workshops, meetings, gatherings, and in the Learning and Interaction Observation Forum (LeaF) at the University of Oulu, equipped with a multimodal observation and recording system. (See Suorsa 2017; Suorsa & Huotari 2017.)
