TheElginMathandScienceAcademyCharterSchool(EMSA,www.elginmathandscience.org)opensAugust,2018toallstudentsresidingintheU-46attendanceareainkindergartenthroughthirdgradeforourinauguralyear.

TheDeanofCulturewillreporttoandworkcloselywiththePrincipal,alongwiththeinstructionalcoachandteachers,todevelopandpromoteacultureofhighexpectationswithhighlevelsofsupporttoensuresuccessforallstudents.TheDeanofCulturewillserveasasupporttoteachersindevelopinganELEducationculturearoundEMSA’sHabitsofScholarship(HOS)tocreateapositiveandsupportiveenvironmentintheirclassroomsandinachievinghighlevelsofengagementandlearningfromallstudents.TheDeanwillserveasthecoordinatorfortheEMSACrewProgram(smallgroupadvisories),developingtheCrewCurriculumMapandsupportingteachersandstaffintheplanninganddeliveryofCrewadvisorylessonsandexperiences.TheDeanofCulturewillalsooverseeschool-wideassessmentsandcoordinatedataandprocessesrelatedtotheMulti-TieredSystemofSupporttoensureeffectivedata-driveninstructionandappropriatesupportsforallstudents.

ThesuccessfulcandidateinthisrolewilluseELEducation’sCorePracticesasthefoundationofourmessagetoensureremarkableacademicachievement,characterdevelopment,andcommunityinvolvementforallstudents.AtEMSA,studentsandteacherswillreachtheirhighestpotentialthroughactiveexploratorylearningandsocialresponsibilityinwhich:

• Proactivelycreateanddeveloppositiverelationshipswithallmembersoftheschoolcommunity• OverseeandsupportimplementationofCrewbyprovidingguidanceandprofessional

development,resourcesandcoachingtoteachersandotherstaff• PartnerwiththePrincipalandInstructionalCoachtosupportteachersindevelopingclassroom

structurestoensureallstudentsarewellknownandestablishingandmaintainingconsistentclassroomroutinesinastudent-centeredclassroom

• Organizeandcoordinatesweeklyschool-widecommunitygatheringstobuildcommunity,celebrate,recognizeandshowcasestudentendeavors

• Supervisetheconsistentandfairadministrationandtrackingofstudentconductandthetrackingofstudentcharacterandbehavioraldata

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor'sorMaster’sDegreeinapplicablefieldofstudy/educationfromanaccreditedcollegeoruniversity

• Atleast3yearsclassroomteachingexperience;experienceinaschool-basedleadershiprolepreferred

• Demonstratesexperiencewithexperientialorproject-basedlearning• Excellentknowledgeandunderstandingoftheteachingandlearningprocess• Experienceandtraininginconflictresolutionstrategiesand/orrestorativepractices• Demonstratesexperienceworkingwithchallengedgroupsinastandards-basedenvironment• Demonstratesknowledgeofmultipleformsofassessment,includingAssessmentsforLearning,

Portfolios,Student-LedConferences,etc.• Demonstratesknowledgeofhowtousedatatodriveinstruction• Demonstratesunderstandingofeffectivepracticestocoachanddevelopteachers• Demonstratessuccessineffectivelysolvingchallengingproblemsthroughapositive,
