TheElginMathandScienceAcademyCharterSchool(EMSA,www.elginmathandscience.org)opensAugust,2018toallstudentsresidingintheU-46attendanceareainkindergartenthroughthirdgradeforourinauguralyear.

EMSAisseekingacompelling,committed,andinnovativeSpecialEducationTeacherthatwillhelptoestablishapositivelearningenvironmentthatpromotesWow&Wonderwhilemodelingandencouragingthehabitsofscholarshipforstudentself-discipline.

ThesuccessfulcandidateinthisrolewilluseELEducation’sCorePracticesastheclassroom’sfoundationtoensureremarkableacademicachievement,characterdevelopment,andcommunityinvolvementforallstudents.AtEMSA,studentsandteacherswillreachtheirhighestpotentialthroughactiveexploratorylearningandsocialresponsibilityinwhich:

TheEMSASpecialEducationTeacherisresponsiblefor,butnotlimitedto:

• CollaboratingwithEMSAclassroomteacherstodevelopandimplementcross-curricularunitsofstudywhichutilizeactivepedagogyandexpeditionarylearninginamulti-ageclassroom

• Differentiatingormodifyinginstructionwithintheclassroomtosupportstudentswithspecialneeds

• Employingspecialeducationstrategiesandtechniquesduringinstructiontoimprovethedevelopmentofsensoryandperceptualmotorskills,language,cognitionandmemory

• Conferringwithparents,administration,teacher,andthesocialworkertodevelopindividualeducationplansdesignedtopromotestudents’educational,physical,andsocialdevelopment

• Maintainingaccurateandcompletestudentrecords,andpreparingreportsonchildrenandactivities,asrequiredbylaw

• Establishingclearobjectiveforalllessons,units,andprojectsandcommunicatingthosetostudents,parentsandstaff

andtherequiredreporting• Abilitytodeveloprelationaltrustwithstudents,families,andstaff

WeseektohireaSpecialEducationTeacherforaJuly,2018startwithstudentsarrivinginAugust.AllEMSAteachingstaffwillbeaskedtoattenda5-dayinstitutewithELEducation—datesrangefromJune18-22(Denver),June25-29(Atlanta),July9-13(Denver),orJuly16-20(Milwaukee).ApplicationswillbeacceptedandreviewedonarollingbasisbeginninginJanuaryof2018.Toconfidentiallyapply,pleasesendaCoverLetterandResume/[email protected].

BeginninginAugust,allcrewmemberswillreceiveextensiveprofessionaldevelopmentinEL

Educationmodules.Furtherresponsibilitiesincludeactivecollaborationwithotherinstructorsandcoachesforcurriculumdesign,classroomset-up,andteambuildingaspartofouropeningschoolactivities.
