Mrs. Hall invited to Meet Mentor
Mrs. Hall has carried around The First
Days Of School book written by Harry K.
Wong and Rosemary T. Wong for so long
now, its pretty well worn.
One day in September, Mrs. Hall
emailed the address in the back of this par-ticular book to thank Harry Wong for such
a valuable book, and she expressed how
much this book has helped her with class-
room management. About 20 minutes later,
Mrs. Hall received a personal email back
from Mr. Wong. He thanked her and asked
if he could quote her email in his next ar-
ticle. He also asked Mrs. Hall to be one of
his special guests at his next conference in
San Antonio. Mrs. Hall could hardly be
lieve what she was reading. She accepted
and started planning to attend.
On November 30th, Mrs. Hall attendedHarry and Rosemary Wongs conference a
the Grand Hyatt in San Antonio. She was
delighted to meet both of the Wongs. I
was a great honor to meet two of my fa
vorite authors. This is certainly a wonder
ful memory and I will cherish it for a long
time.

Molly Kresta has taught at ECHS since
the fall of 2001. She came to teaching after12 years in public relations and marketing.
Most of her day is spent teaching Desktop
Publishing and Photojournalism, but she
also helps teach teachers to use technol-
ogy. If anyone has questions regarding
the use of technology in the classroom,
Id love for them to call or e-mail echs-
[email protected]. Its great to see teach-
ers nd new ways to teach concepts!
This weeks new idea is adding ani-
mation to increase understanding. Almost
Whos Next Door?
any concept can be
more easily under-stood if explained
using animation.
Check out http://
mollykresta.blogspot.com/2010/12/edld-
5366-week-three-animation.html for an
example of using animation to teach a
common concept. A simple tutorial can
be planned for your conference period!

ECHS Speech and Drama were busy
preparing for the production of Lewis Car-
rolls classic tale, Alice in Wonderland,
adapted by Brainerd Dufeld and directed
by Katrese Skinner and Carl Woodworth.
Those in attendance on November 19th-
20th journeyed with Alice down the rab-
bit hole as she entered a
land ruled by the Queen
of Hearts and encoun-
tered many fun and in-
teresting inhabitants of
Wonderland and Look-
ing Glass Land. It was
a fun lled adventurethat many were a part
of, whether by partici-
pating or watching, and it was an experi-
ence that they are unlikely to soon forget.
The team also travelled to Bay City
December 3 & 4 to compete in the 14th
annual Speech and Debate Tournament.
Not only did the high school team
compete, but they invited eighth grade
students who are considering joining
the group next year. I thought playing
the Mad Hatter would be the highlight
