The city of Arcadia is located just east of Pasadena off of the 210 freeway and has a population of 60,000. Arcadia’s economy has been strong following the recession with an unemployment rate of 2.7% compared to the Los Angeles County average of 4.7%. Arcadia is also affluent and educated with a median household income of $79,934 and Bachelor’s degree attainment rate of 51.8% compared to LA County’s values of $56,196 and 30.3%. This has elevated total retail sales per capita in Arcadia to $14,963 against $12,184 in the rest of the county. The Westfield Santa Anita serves as the largest shopping center in the city, but there are a number of designated districts within the city each with unique qualities and focuses.
