Principal’s Report ~ Milly Stone Commonwealth Games Day This was a wonderful day where the children were able to experience what goes into the running of the Commonwealth Games. The activities were engaging and all the children had a great time. Mother’s Day Stall I would like to thank Vicki Korb on her wonderful organisation of the Mother’s Day stall and to all the parent helpers who assisted Vicki. The children are very excited about the gifts they have purchased. The money raised by the P&C was $2068. There will also be a pop-up stall at the front of the school on Friday morning from 8:30am for any last minute gift purchases. School Photos School photos were taken today. Thank you for ensuring that the children really looked their best for the photos. If you have not paid on line for photos please do so as soon as possible. All payments and enquiries are to be directed to ’The School Photographer’ Dural Colour Dash Thank you for your support of the Dural Colour Dash. The amount raised was $12,000. This money is evenly distributed to all the classes so that teachers can purchase specific items for their class. Congratulations to 2M and 6H as those two classes had all the children return money. They will both receive a canteen voucher and a HUGE jar of jellybeans. PSSA Sport This term is the very first time that Stage 2 (Years 3 and 4) are participating in this competition. We wish all the teams good luck for the winter competition. NAPLAN for Years 3 and 5 NAPLAN on line begins on Tuesday 15 May and goes over two weeks. Please ensure that children are at school no later than 9.00am so that they are not stressed about being late for tests. Working Bee Our first working bee will be held on Sunday 3 June between 8.00am and 12.30pm. Please go to page 2 for more details. Band Camp Concert Last night our beginning concert band and senior concert band played at the band camp concert at Pacific Hills. Our children played superbly and their hard work really showed. It was a wonderful opportunity for our children to participate in a very large orchestra as well as playing in their own band. The culmination of the evening was that all children who attended the camp performed the piece ‘This is Me’ from the Greatest Showman, in the Uber Band. This was amazing. A very special thank you to Mrs Barhon and Mrs Philippou for all their work at band camp and for attending last night. Congratulations to Mrs Spall and all the children in the two bands, you were brilliant!

The children seemed to have a great time at the school disco last term, and I am sure all the
children enjoyed the free sausage sandwich.
The new shade sail has been installed outside 3/4R classroom and looks fabulous. It has made a
wonderful outdoor space for the children to engage in learning experiences such as reading
groups, etc.
As you may have noticed, the large shade sail in the K-2 area has ripped. As this is slowly
becoming more and more hazardous, I have gained the approval of the Executive Team from
your P&C to have this repaired a.s.a.p. After obtaining three quotes, we have decided on the
company to replace the entire shade cloth and work should begin soon.
The Mother’s day stall was a wonderful occasion with the children having an amazing choice of
gifts for their mum. We did sell out on the first stall but we held a second stall yesterday so all
the children could participate. A MASSIVE thankyou to Vicki Korb who has put in so much time
and effort to ensure the children had fabulous gifts to choose from. Thank you also to the team
of volunteers who supported her. There is a final chance to purchase gifts on Friday so check
the newsletter for further details.
Thanks, Cara Miceli
A Mother’s Day pop up stall will be held outside the front of the school from 8.30am on Friday for last minute gifts. Why not pause in kiss and drop and grab a great value pressie for mum. We will also be selling $3 lolly bags for mum from the canteen on Friday.

A Fish out of Water
Most of the parents know we have a pet budgie with attitude - called PIP, but we also have a little known Siamese fighting fish called ‘Super Steve’ who is gradually outgrowing his tank so we are just putting it out there if anyone has a second hand fish tank they would like to sell to OOSH... We have a water snail – called Gary and a scaredy catfish called Jeffery, but the children would like to get some colourful fish to add to our little water world we are creating. Please contact us on 9653 9331 if you can help us give Super Steve the life he longs for.
The children have settled into term two very well and the Kindergarten children are learning the ropes quickly however, we will continue to pick them up from under the COLA until they are confident enough to walk to OOSH by themselves.
For the colder months, we will also be offering the children baked beans or porridge for breakfast as an extra filler to start their day.
